Well, what do I say about new “Le Gourmand” location?

I have to say, as the brand new customer, was not overjoyed with poor customer service. In this industry it is detrimental to stand out with exceptional product and customer service to reflect the cost (ofcourse if you wish for the client to return).

It was disappointing to see this bakery open at 9am when their competition (down the street) opens at 8am. I stayed and waited ONLY to try new place and I had time, otherwise I would definitely go someplace where earlier service was available. (I really do not wish to go into detail of how this should have been handled). Sometimes, we have to go over and above our line of duty to sustain the business especially at the time when you have to make a mark.

When I finally was ALLOWED to come in I ordered my butter croissants and few “World Famous Chocolate and walnut cookies”. Packaging for cookies was great, however I cannot say the same for the croissants. Croissants are light and flaky therefore should not be piled on top of each other rather layered in a box.

Products are slightly overpriced, but that is usually normal when you start a new business. I am always more than happy to pay more for great product...

Croissants were well laminated, but over-proofed. It was also slightly under cooked. Taste was great though. Cookies were very tasty, had nice chewiness to them. I have noticed they are NOT consistent in size and amount of chocolate and walnuts for such big price ticket.

In conclusion, I truly hope this bakery survives in this neighbourhood. If you have decided to charge bit more then bakeries that are exceptionally good then you need to up your game. Great product without good customer service is sometimes JUST NOT ENOUGH.

I have given you 3 stars as I am planning to return couple more times and see if you will stay consistent to current service or will there be improvement.

Will stars rise or fall? To be...

I have been buying chocolate chip cookies from Le Gourmand for years (Spadina location), and the quality has always been exceptional. In my opinion, they are the best cookies in Toronto. I’ve introduced many people to them, and we all agree they’re the best we’ve ever had.

However, I do have one concern: the size of the cookies. Before the pandemic, they were noticeably larger than average. Over time, though, they’ve gradually gotten smaller. This past weekend, I visited the Lakeshore location and received the smallest cookies I’ve ever had in nearly six years of being a loyal customer. They were about the size of cookies I could get from a grocery store.

At nearly $4 per cookie, I think we can agree that they shouldn’t be the same size as something from a grocery store or Subway. As someone who has watched the size decrease over the years, it’s quite disheartening. While I understand the economic challenges businesses are facing right now, it’s disappointing to see such a noticeable change.

Your cookies are still the best, but I hope you’ll consider bringing back a more substantial size to match the price. .

Additional feedback: You may either want to use clear plastics to cover up food at the front by the windows to avoid germs and flies. I've been here too many times to witness this. I also witnessed one of the staff petting a dog and going right back to serving food without washing her hands or...

I bought some of these cookies because it was deemed one of the best cookies in Toronto, however I was extremely disappointed. The cookies were rock hard but I gave it the benefit of the doubt and bit into it thinking the center would be chewy and dense, instead I was greeted with a rocky edge that tasted like chips ahoy. Once I finally got to the center it was slightly chewy but not as much as I would prefer, the cookie seemed overbaked. It was not buttery, could not taste the caramelized flavor of the butter, sugar and vanilla extract considering the predominant flavor was the chocolate chips. I microwaved it but the flavor still fell short, it was lacking in something, don't know what it is. Flavors were just not balanced. Kept biting into the cookie thinking it would get better but it didn't. Definitely looks better than it tastes. Verdict: 2/5 Salt lord recommends spending the same price for one cookie to buy yourself some chips ahoy and save your...

Went there today to check out the new coffee shop opened up in our neighbourhood. They had a lovely array of freshly baked goods. We ordered a drip coffee and a prosciutto Brie sandwich. I would say the coffee and sandwich were good but a little overpriced, as it is something that you can easily assemble at home with the right ingredients - brie, prosciutto, pesto and arugula. My 3star rating of this bakery has got to do with the not so friendly customer service. I believe her to be the owner/supervisor as she was training her staff members. A review of a cafe is not only the food but also to experience a nicer, friendlier customer service on a weekend morning. Overall if you just wish to grab your coffee on the go, might as well go to McDonald’s, the coffee & breakfast menu isn’t bad and the staff smile.

I don't know why some reviewers say that they got bad service. The service I got was warm and caring. Even though they were busy, they checked with the kitchen to find out food allergies. Cookies are indeed the best I've had in Toronto. Slightly crispy edges and a moist center. Amazingly, it also has some height to get a bit of a cakey feel. The Shibuya Chocolate Fudge Cake is incredibly dense and intensely chocolatey. Definitely worth the admission. The chocolate bomb has a mochi like outer layer with a nice gooey center. As good as it it, this was my least favorite and would try something else next time. Open a branch in Markham and I'll be there every week!
