After having it bookmarked on my list of places to eat for months, I finally made my way over to Wolfies Deli for their Smoked Meat Sandwich and it did not disappoint. Located in a small unassuming strip plaza, this place is easy to miss but after taking a bite out of their sky high meat sandwiches, never again will I pass by the area without thinking of this Jewish deli. The Corned Beef, Pastrami and Smoked Meal sandwiches are all priced at $9.96 and sandwiched between four pieces of Silverstein rye with your choice of regular, sweet or hot mustard. The difference between the meats comes down to the spices with the Corned Beef being the simplest (brined beef with no seasoning); Pastrami with a mild blend of seasoning; and the Smoked Meat brined in a mix of peppery spices. I decided to get the Smoked Meat Sandwich "special" ($12.99) which included a sandwich, coleslaw or potato salad, and pickles. The sandwich was absolutely delicious. The smoked meat was freshly sliced from brisket imported from Montreal. The flavour can only be described as meaty and juicy with a buttery soft texture. I was really impressed with the fact that even though the meat was sliced paper thin and fairly lean, I was still able to see all the juices glistening off the surface. The rye bread was soft with a chewy crust which complimented the tender meat and the mustard added a nice kick to the sandwich. Even the sides were great. The Tymek's old fashioned barrel aged dill pickles were crunchy and tart and the potato salad was creamy with a slightly sweet and tangy flavour. It is easy to see why Drake considers this unpretentious deli one of his favourite neighbourhood spots.

If you’re into classic deli food, Wolfie’s Deli on Sheppard Avenue West is a solid spot to check out. It’s been around since the ‘70s, and you can definitely feel the old-school vibe the moment you walk in. The star of the show is the Montreal-style smoked meat sandwich—super tender, stacked high, and packed with flavor. You can get it in different sizes, but if you’re really hungry, go for the Wolf Size—it’s a beast (in a good way). They also serve great pastrami and corned beef, all made with high-quality brisket. Don’t skip the sides either—the coleslaw, fries, and spicy mustard really round things out. The place has a laid-back, nostalgic feel—think Coca-Cola signs and a cozy diner atmosphere. It’s not super fancy, but that’s kind of the charm. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and you’ll often see the owner chatting with regulars, which adds to the homey vibe. Just a heads-up: they’re closed on Saturdays and don’t stay open super late, so make sure to check the hours before you go. All in all, if you’re craving a classic deli sandwich that hits the spot, Wolfie’s is worth the visit.

Completely satisfied my Montreal style smoked meat craving. Yes it's on the pricy side but this is significant stack of meaty wonderfulness. As evidenced in the photo. Accompanied the sandwich with potato salad and a dill pickle; both highly recommended. Great combo but be warned this a lot of food. I was confused by the four slices of bread but once you dig into this sandwich it becomes abundantly clear why this is necessary. Counter staff very pleasant and helpful suggest additional items that go well with the meal. Vernor's soda pop was suggested which I haven't had in many years. If you like cream soda Venor's is a subtle version of that. Personally not a fan of cream soda. Vernor's is nothing like ginger ale which I thought it resembled. Will definitely return if I venture back up to this part of Toronto.

I visited with an old friend whom i only get to see about once a years these days. We generally try to scope out a place for lunch that is comfortable, has good food and is conducive to good conversation.

Wolfies passes all those "tests" with flying colours.

As soon as i walking in i could feel something a bit unusual for me: a smile on my face!

The decor is great, with Coca Cola paraphernalia covering most of the walls, tables, and more. What's the old slogan? Have a Coke and a SMILE.

Our server immediately greeted us, chatting as if we were old friends or regulars. She pointed out the bottles of Mexican Coke, something i'd been wanting to try for a bit, so of course i had one. It was delicious and a perfect complement to my smoked meat sandwich.

She offered a choice of mustard when ordering, which was much appreciated as i am a big fan of that particular condiment.

The heaping sandwich arrived promptly after ordering, about 2 or 3 sips into the Coke. It was beautiful and huge.

The meat was the perfect in terms of temperature, texture and taste. Furthermore, the bread continued the theme of perfection, and had become one with the meat.

As we enjoyed our lunch the deli tables became occupied, and yet the vibe remained relaxing, warm and inviting. If you have a barber you have been going to for decades, you will experience the same sense of belonging when you visit Wolfies.

If you are in the Sheppard and Bathurst area, you definitely need to pay a visit to Wolfies. They've been in business for 40+ years for a...

Ordered via UberEats. Fast delivery, so that was nice.

Our first time trying this place, so I had the knish and gravy, which is what I always get from another nearby deli. Was really looking forward to it as I was starving and there were so many positive reviews. I was particularly excited for it since I love knish.

But I was disappointed when I bit into it, to the point of not wanting to finish it. The gravy was nice, but the knish itself was just very bland and even texture-wise was not very pleasant either. I can't speak to authenticity and whatnot, but it just left me wanting. I might just be too used to the other place.

My boyfriend had the corned beef sandwich, which he said was average. Said the meat was average and I also don't think he liked that there were two slices of (average) bread on either side of the sandwich. He gave it a fair shot but it didn't work out for him. Too much bread. I'd probably be okay with the extra bread. Obviously not a huge deal as he just didn't eat the extra.

We also had an order of fries which were very similar to McDonald's fries. Again, disappointing.

I really wanted to like this place, to give us another deli option nearby, but we're probably just going to be sticking to our usual. :(

You might have a better experience, like most other people who have reviewed,...
