November 6, 2023 update: I had to come back and update my review of Yummy House. It's still a 5 stars, everything continues to be amazing but I just had their chicken balls and I can't believe I'm raving about chicken balls! You'd think chicken balls would be a boring standard fare, right? NOPE, so wrong! Yummy House makes their own chicken balls, fresh, with actual pieces of chicken breast and their own batter. This was the first time ever that I've had chicken balls that I enjoyed! The batter was crunchy but soft, not too thick and you can taste and see the chicken chunks. Sweet and sour sauce, of course, is divine. You can get it as a meal or as an appetizer on the side (which I did. I ate the whole thing while walking and scrolling). Soooo good, another must try if you're in the area! Thank you Yummy House for all the good food! Oh my gosh, can I say enough good things about Yummy House? This place is a must visit if you want a classic Cantonese Chinese dish like fried egg noodles (the yellow kind) or fried rice noodles (the flat white kind) or a rice dish with all the delicious fixings. Featured here are their signature Beef Fried Noodles and their Cantonese Fried Noodles. The portions are generous, the food is well flavoured but I appreciate that it's not too salty - perfect for my taste buds. Can I tell you their secret though? You HAVE to try their Popcorn Chicken. The small is $3.50 and you get a generous portion and you get so much more for your dollar than if you spent that on a bag of chips/fries. You have to get it in the larger size featured here for $7. So satisfying - crunchy, not oily at all, savoury with a hint of 5 spice powder. My favourite are the little crunchy bits at the bottom of the box. Chase that all down with a classic bubble tea and you are good to go. Their bubble tea prices are also reasonable ($3.50 for a small, $5 for a large) and comes in a variety of flavours. They also have smoothies as well. If you see frozen dim sum in their fridge, pick them up! Tom makes these fresh and freezes them. Each pack is $10 and so much more affordable to steam them at home. They are delicious (try their shrimp dumplings, pork shiu mai, and more!). Tom and Susan have been running this place since 2003 and they are the gems of the neighbourhood. The local high school students are regular patrons and somehow Susan manages to know their 'usual' orders! They are such lovely easy going people. Yummy House is ideal for takeout so grab some delicious food and enjoy to your heart's content! Man, I want popcorn chicken right now! :)

I was thrilled to see that they have reopened! They have been there since about 20 years ago!! I used to live up the street and went to high school across the street so they were definitely the go-to spot for quick eats! I'm sad that they no longer sell the same food that I was looking forward to (fries supreme, chicken burger, etc) but I'm so happy for them to be back! They now sell Chinese food but they still live up to their name of being "Yummy"! You can totally taste the "wok hei" in the food. I also picked up some of their homemade frozen dim sum. I don't go downtown often at all but when I'm in the area, I will ALWAYS make a trip to Yummy House for some food and to say hi to Susan and Tom. They are the most genuine people ever and they always make you feel so welcomed!

We have ordered catering from them in the past. They have tasty authentic dishes such as shrimp with ginger and garlic, Chinese vegetables, noodles, General Tso chicken. They also offer “snacky” meal to appeal to the kids and husband with item like popcorn chicken with fries, chicken burgers and chicken balls (for nostalgia). Everything is made in-house and fresh. The kids love their bubble teas as a special treat. We get frozen homemade dim sum for lazy lunches. The owner said they are the second generations in the food industry so some recipes are past down from the chef’s Father. We highly recommend them!

Best all-around westernized Chinese food in the entire city. Everything tastes more refined, but homemade with love! I think they make our favourite mapo tofu ever. Fried rice, ho fun, sweet'n'sour/wonton soup and Singapore and Shanghai fried noodle are all winners.

Their chicken balls have generous pieces of real chicken nested inside a perfect (not sweet!) doughnut-like ball, with a sweet'n'sour sauce that's so unprocessed it doesn't glow... I've never seen this before, and it's made me a fan of chicken balls for the first time in my life.

If you're so inclined, their frozen dumplings you can take home are literally the size of a fist. Biggest dumplings I've ever seen. 1 is a meal for a smallish person.

I love this true mom'n'pop shop. Owners are LOVELY and they also sell bubble tea!...
