Came here the other day after a quick “best gluten-free restaurants toronto” google search and boy was google right! Best gluten-free indeed! I’ve recently discovered I am very gluten intolerant and decided to make it my mission to find great GF eats around the city and WOW this spot knocks it out of the park! Pescatarian-forward menu with focus on flavour & texture! As someone who has not eaten a ton of GF foods, I can say these dishes blew my mind. I was expecting to come in and be able to “taste the difference” and have it “be yummy for GF” but every dish is exceptional in general! Every item holds its own! I ordered the cauliflower bites, crab cakes and the fish & chips! Everything was hot and fresh and sooo flavourful! I have no doubts that someone who isn’t GF would love this spot and truly, I’m not sure they’d be able to tell the difference! Batter on the fish and chips was crispy and delicious without being dry & crumbly! Fish was fresh and tender and cooked just right. Crab cakes were the highlight for me! I love crab cakes and these were absolutely fantastic! Just divine. Cauliflower bites were also superb (I opted for the Asian glaze as recommended by Chad); I wish i’d eaten less of them and saved more room for my main and a dessert! (Too full for dessert this time… Maybe next!) The food was exceptional, every item I ate was delicious and Chad is an out-of-this-world host—so friendly, so outgoing and so hospitable! He explained the menu and some popular items and made recommendations, he also explained each dish as it came out and ensured my experience was nothing short of wonderful! The food is unreal and the hospitality makes it even better!! I truly cannot wait to come back and wow my friends with this spot! Keep up the amazing work and keep doing what you’re doin! You guys are amazing, thank you for a wonderful experience! 10/10 would absolutely recommend and...
Read moreLast night, my girlfriends and I had the pleasure of dining at Anglr. There were eight of us. This spot is a rare gem in the city: relaxed, friendly, and refreshingly unpretentious. The Pros: The staff was lovely—attentive without being overbearing, and their relaxed, friendly vibe helped set the tone for a great evening. No one rushed us through our meal, even though we were the last diners in the restaurant. They even noticed on their own that we were celebrating two birthdays and surprised us with a couple of desserts with candles, which was such a thoughtful touch. The Food: Everything we ordered was delicious! It’s hard to pick favorites, but the Spicy Korean Salad, Oysters, Mussels & Clams, and Shrimp Rolls were just amazing. And their house-made hot sauce—it’s a must-try! The prices were super reasonable, too. We were pleasantly surprised when we got the bill, which is always a nice bonus. A Few Suggestions: The music choice wasn’t my favorite, and the lighting where we were seated was a bit too bright for my taste. Also, they had run out of a couple of drink options we wanted, but the staff was very apologetic and offered alternative suggestions, so no biggie. A few more wine choices wouldn’t hurt either. Overall: Our group dines out together in Toronto often, and it’s rare to find a place that hits the mark on so many levels—welcoming atmosphere, fantastic service, delicious food, and reasonable prices. And no pre fixe menu! We were able to order à la carte, which was perfect for us. Would I go back? Absolutely! Thank you, Anglr, for a...
Read moreOrdered via UberEats so obviously I take delivery into account. That said, everything was fresh and excellent. I particularly enjoyed the crab cake, and I say this as someone who has recently traveled to Halifax! It's hard to get the texture and consistency of crab cake right, and I'm glad it was punchy without being too flakey.
The other surprise was the poutine. Toronto isn't known for good poutine so I kept my expectations low. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavorful gravy and gooey cheese curds. The portion size was also fairly big and I feel it could be a meal on its own.
The other appetizers I got were the fried cauliflower and calamari. While the calamari tasted exactly like how you would expect it to taste like, the cauliflower was delightfully light and delicate. The sauce complemented it well too.
Now, on to the main fish & chips. The haddock piece was huge and fresh. The batter was crispy and not too greasy - it's for sure one of the best fish I've had here. I picked the peach & salsa dip out of sheer curiosity and the refreshing taste went well with the fried fish.
So, why the 4? The food alone would be 5, but unfortunately the prices are a little too high. I'm sure the high cost goes into the high quality of the ingredients (and it shows), but it's hard to justify such a splurge outside of...
