Our company has been coming to this restaurant for years. Every time we’re in town, it’s been our go to. I’ve talked it up so many times, so this visit I brought a coworker, and honestly, I was embarrassed.
I usually get the blackened 10 oz ribeye, but I was a bit hungrier and ordered the 12 oz this time. What came out looked like a 10 oz and was clearly overcooked. I told our server, Karen. She offered to remake it, but I said I’d eat it because I didn’t want to waste a good cut of meat. I made it clear I wasn’t happy though. She said she’d let the kitchen know, but I’m pretty sure that never happened.
Later, another staff member came by and asked how the meal was. I didn’t feel like repeating myself. Then the bill came with no adjustment. I mentioned it again and the manager came over, apologized, and said she’d take care of it.
She then asked why I hadn’t said anything to her earlier when she came by the table. I told her I didn’t think I needed to repeat myself to everyone. Karen should have passed it along. Either communication is broken, the staff aren’t properly trained, or the manager isn’t approachable. None of those are good.
And no, I didn’t take photos of the steak. I’m not that kind of person. I’m not an Instagram filter photographer and I don’t leave bad reviews for fun. I gave them the chance to make it right.
In the end, they gave me $5 off a $50 steak. For something that was overcooked and probably not the size I paid for, that felt like the bare minimum.
We’ve brought a lot of business here over the years and I expected better. Next time I’ll just send the food back or we’ll go somewhere that actually values...

For a Party of 11 coming in an hour before closing, they did great!.
Cons: One of our crew members had a long Hair Cooked into his Calamari. One would expect that you get that food item removed from your bill. They did not offer that.
My BIGGEST PET PEEVE: When you come in with a "large party" every single person gets an automatic, MANDATORY 18% surcharge to your bill. (The mandatory 18% Tip)
I am NOT OK with being forced to Pay on top of my Bill.
When it becomes Mandatory. It's not a Tip. It's theft.
If that's what your going to do, just increase your damned item prices.
EDIT UPDATE: The owner was quick to reply to my email and my party and I returned for a second experience.
Pros: Once Again I had Onion Rings and the Brisket. (The Brisket is just amazing and 10/10 recommend to anyone visiting Hinton) Still the best Onion Rings I have ever tasted. And for an Appetizer: Brisket Burnt Ends literally mouth watering pieces of Brisket lathered in BBQ Sauce.
The staff were more then accommodating, once again for our party.
Most Importantly: NO 18% mandatory surcharge was added.
Thank you for allowing us to pick our own Tip percentage for our stay

We were surprised at 8 o’clock at night that that restaurant was absolutely packed, but we were seated immediately. Even though it was packed our waitress, KHRYSTINE KEPT COMING BY OUR TABLE TO SEE IF WE HAD ANY QUESTIONS TO BRING OUR WATERS AND OUR COFFEES AND MAKE SUGGESTIONS. I HAD ASKED HER ABOUT THE BRISKET AND SHE RECOMMENDED THE BRISKET ON A BUN.. MY HUSBAND HAD THE BRISKET WITH THE GREEN PEPPERS, ET CETERA, AND MOZZARELLA CHEESE. AND THE SOUP.. BOTH OF US WERE EATING SLOWLY BECAUSE WE DID NOT WANT TO SEE THE END OF THAT MEAL. I ALSO HAD SWEET POTATO FRIES WHICH I LOVE AND NOBODY ELSE EVER GIVES YOU ENOUGH DIP. I THINK I HAVE A LOT OF THAT FANTASTIC DIP.. THROUGH ALL THAT RUSH, SHE WAS EFFICIENT PLEASANT AND HELPFUL. ANYONE ELSE THAT WE TALK TO IN THE STORE HAD A SMILE ON THEIR FACE AND THEY WERE SO POLITE.
