Ruby's Counter — Restaurant in Town of Kensington

Cute little takeout/eat in diner with authentic and eclectic PEI small town vibes. Came from away for Monday brunch. They offered a traditional breakfast which I had. My portion was rather small compared to the rest of the table, but was impressed with the elevated flavours on something so simple. Sourdough bread, was really nice treat. (Was that made in store? I never asked). Great traditional breakfast and lunch items with their own tasty twist.

This is an order at the counter and seat yourself place… if you’re staying. They also have to go options. Many local hardworking blue collar type workers came through for lunch (farmers, mechanics, fisherman, delivery guys), so you know it’s gotta be a good place to pick up a “home cooked” quick meal or snack.

Went with my family of seven, so wasn’t really ideal for that; but otherwise great. Would be a cute and tasty place for a lunch...

We stopped in for lunch on our way back to Charlottetown and were pleasantly surprised by both the atmosphere and the food. We ordered the sweet club sandwich with home fries and decided to share it—since we’re not big eaters—but it was so delicious that we immediately wished we had ordered one each!

We ended up getting a second sandwich—a western this time—and it was just as tasty. One thing I especially appreciated was the use of sourdough bread. It’s not only healthier, but it also tastes so much better than regular bread. It’s a rare find at restaurants, so for us, that was a big bonus.

The prices are very reasonable, the food is delicious too. 10/10.

My daughters shared a plate of waffles and the cook came out after we split the plate and added more strawberries on each of their plates.

Washroom was clean which is always nice.

The only thing I would change is the music selection. There was some pop style songs playing with the lyrics “gonna undress you” which I don’t necessarily want my young daughters to hear. But that’s the only thing I would change.
