Came here with high expectations because of the great reviews, but honestly it didn’t live up to the hype. Service was pretty slow—we waited quite a while for the ribs. When they finally arrived, they were okay. Smoky flavor was strong. The fries were soft and not crispy at all, which was disappointing. The bear was super average, nothing memorable. The only thing that really stuck was going back to the hotel smelling like BBQ smoke. Wouldn’t rush back.

Hi Brandon, thanks for the response.

I completely understand that you’re running things solo and that good food takes time, I have no issue with that. My review was based on my honest experience as a paying customer. The ribs were okay, but the long wait and overall atmosphere didn’t match the high expectations set by your online presence.

I do want to point out that the sarcasm about hiring and mentioning you’re also the dishwasher and cashier didn’t really sit well with me. It felt a bit dismissive of valid feedback. I wasn’t attacking your effort. I was just sharing how the experience landed from the guest’s perspective.

Wishing you all the best as the...

My team was just wrapping up our construction project and I was looking to get the fellas some BBQ for dinner. I got in touch with Brandon to see if he could help me out, once again. (He catered for my wedding). He told me he knew what I was looking for and I left in his hands.

He even offered to host!

Ukees Best BBQ and no dishes... Done deal.

Brandon's BBQ skills are seriously impressive. The brisket was tender, the ribs were mouthwatering, and the pulled pork was a definite hit. Smoked meats, mac and cheese and ask him about the burnt ends... trust me.

But what really stood out was Brandon's passion for what he does. You can tell he loves to barbecue, serve killer dishes and seeing people enjoy his food. And trust me, the guys raved over it!

So, if you're ever looking for some great BBQ for your next gathering, definitely give Brandon a shout at Cedar and Salt + Bakery. You won't be disappointed!

He Caters, He does Lunch! HE has a food truck and best of all He has a giant bbq and smoker!

Thanks again, Brandon, for making our Crew and Locals dinner one...

House made focaccia bread for the sandwiches was absolutely delicious. We came at about 12:30 on July 3 and I was a little sad because the main things I would have ordered they were out of (no pork schnitzel, no falafel only tofu, no Fruits of the Sea dish). We ended up instead with the pulled chicken sandwich and the brisket sandwich. I am a wuss with spiciness and the brisket definitely has a kick so I ended up eating the pulled chicken sandwich and it was great despite not being what I thought I wanted! The white sauce was delicious with the pulled chicken. I did get a side of greens and the vinaigrette that they were tossed with was awesome too! Very tasty overall, and speaking with the owner/main chef (I believe) he definitely has pride in what he makes! We sat on the outdoor patio with our dog and that was fine so relatively dog friendly as well as long as you don't block...

Oh my god. When I tell you this place is good, I MEAN THIS PLACE IS GOOOOOD! This man knows his bbq. He is so passionate about cooking and you can taste it. When I saw the Anthony bourdain books in the corner, I knew this was going to be real. My husband got the brisket and I got the brisket sandwich. Incredible. I wish I just got the pound of brisket cause it was that delicious lol. we wanted to go again the next day during our trip but he was closed. I have not shut up about the brisket since. You have to check this place out if you’re in Ukee. It puts Jones BBQ in Victoria to shame. Actually, any bbq place I’ve been to

My partner and I were blown away by Cedar and Salt, a hidden gem in Ucluelet. We indulged in the Big Boi Burger and Pulled Chicken sandwich, both of which were impressively massive and deliciously flavorful. The quality and size of these dishes truly set Cedar and Salt apart. It's a cozy spot that showcases the best of local ingredients and culinary craftsmanship. As a local, I'm proud to give this hidden gem a well-deserved 5-⭐️ rating. Don't miss out on this food😍
