We scheduled a lesson for our child with Jay for what started to be a rainy day. He was super friendly and totally weather agnostic. It turned out that our daughter was the only person to request a lesson so she learned 1:1 and had an amazing experience. No one in our family had ever surfed and this was our child’s first experience in a wet suit. After a few questions and some basic SURF instruction. My daughter was able to ride wave. By the end of the lesson, she was out at the break and getting some nice rides. As luck would have it, tThe weather turned and was sunny and epic for a great afternoon. Had a group lesson with Jay. Awesome experience. Got sorted with all necessary equipment at Long Beach Surf Shop then followed Jay and our boards to the beach that was selected as best conditions for the day. He went over a load of safety stuff covering all aspects of surfing and then we had 1.5-2 hours in the water, which was plenty as good waves were constant. Jay helped all of us throughout the lesson, from catching the wave, all the way through to being able to stand on the board. Super helpful, encouraging and fun throughout. ...

If you are searching for a surfing teacher don’t look any further. J was amazing! We could have not asked for a better experience. He is a great teacher and made sure everyone had a good time. Even though I was a bit scared and nervous before we head in the water, I felt very safe while we were in there. On top of that we spotted killer wales close to the beach.
