Floathouse perfectly captures the coastal vibe with its cozy, rustic atmosphere and delicious food. The seafood chowder is a standout dish. It's flavorful, and filled with fresh ingredients (there’s no heavy cream here, just pure West Coast goodness). The mussels are equally excellent: clean, plump, and expertly seasoned. The restaurant has become quite popular, so outdoor seating can require a bit of patience, but trust me, it’s worth the wait. Whether you’re coming from the beach or just looking for great food in Ucluelet, make sure to stop by. You won’t regret it!

Beef stroganoff is to die for! Exceptional warf experience! So grateful to have had this beautiful meal here! (Only issue is that there is no kids menu — that part always surprises me. It costs nothing and helps families so much to actually just take 10 minutes and pick 3 existing simplified menu items to put on a kids’ menu.)

Dining on this boat restaurant put me really feel on holiday - dining on the water, in fresh air, with a view of sailboats. Service was good. Food was absolutely fantastic. All 5 of us loved our entrees, and the chocolate mousse desert. The salt and pepper chicken wings were perfection. Rockfish with mango salsa was very good.

Came by soon after opening, there's been only 1 other customer and 1 party came after me. Asked for mussels, they said they don't serve mussels, for they are seasonal. Asked for fish and chips with halibut… no, it's seasonal too. Asked for calamari… no, they were also out of squids. So end up with a burger for kid, grilled prawns and 2 chowders.

Next… guess what… they bring me calamari and prawns, but 5 minutes later the owner comes by and says that they messed up with the order, they promised the last calamari to other couple (first clients that day, eh?) and I'd have to pay for them now. He actually put it the way that it mas my fault that I didn't notice I'm eating something I didn't order.

Next… I order more prawns, I explicitly requested them to be the same, but they brought me prawns with a different sauce that I didn't like at all (too much seasoning).

Now the chowder… it is pretty good yes, cream is really nice, but it doesn't have any seafood in it AT ALL, except some salmon. No clams what so ever in the award winning clam chowder.

So those first shrimps that I didn't order (that's why the sauce was different second time) they were the best shrimps I ever had in my life and that's the only thing that saved this place from totally negative review. Another star for location (floating in the harbour) and a gorgeous smiley waitress.

Considering that they didn't even think to apologise for the messed up order and I had to pay for everything it wasn't a cheap lunch, so I had to...

Well the place was okay I guess I got takeout food. I got the Philly cheese or whatever asked for no mushrooms and got mushrooms on it. The real problem was the way the staff was. I've come to this place seven or eight times and I've enjoyed it I've never had a bad experience for a local here until now. I told them that I went to another restaurant that was near them and the guy went out of his way to be like oh well you're going to like our food much better. Well that's not true because I had to bring back your food your steak sandwich wasn't very good I took a piece of the meat to try it out that's why I asked for a refund. We got a rack of ribs very small and very expensive for the price. I thought this little town was about Uprising everybody that lived here instead of downplaying a restaurant that was actually much better than what you guys had your food was not up to par to them wasn't even close. I will tell my friends and family about the service we had. Feel free to contact me i would love to tell you my problems. Also my wife said a guy named Fernando or something along the lines said and that was the same person that bashed the other better restaurant. Which i took my money and bought food from. Thanks for making me push people to a place that doesn't bash other local places as ypu did to me. Be positive there's room for lots of restaurants...

First night in Ucluelet and we are staying in an apartment that overlooks the restaurant. We went down to take a look earlier in the day and decided to eat there later. We originally wanted to eat at 6pm, which would have been a way better idea, but we got sidetracked by a small hike and eventually reached the restaurant at around 7pm.

The staff were right: come before 630pm! There were many people ahead of us in the line up and the wait was about 25-30 minutes. We ended up getting a seat way sooner than expected because we picked one outside of the usual eating area at a picnic table.

Our waitress was amazing.

The only downside of eating so late was that they were out of a lot of what we wanted, namely deserts.

Overall we enjoyed ourselves and we will go back, but earlier this time.

Part 2: The Next Night:

We did go back. Earlier too. This time a total different experience.

Ignored by waitstaff until I went to the counter 15 minutes after being seated.

Order was wrong, but by the time food got to me I was hungry.

The meal itself was awesome and the one dessert they actually had left was worth the emoter hassle of the evening.

Why they cannot make enough desserts to last past 6pm is completely baffling to me.

While I will come back to Ucluelet, I don’t think I can return to this restaurant for dinner.

Lunch ... more...
