Had an absolutely amazing experience with Subtidal adventures. We went on the 8am whale watching zodiac cruise and had a blast. Our guide, Brandon, was very knowledgeable on the local area and wildlife. He was an excellent spotter, seeing the whales and wildlife well before any of us did.
The check in process is very seamless. The whale watching desk is inside a coffee shop, so we went for breakfast and coffees while we filled out our paperwork. Then were fitted for floater suites and given a map telling us where the dock is.

We were lucky to see whales on our 8am trip. As far as I know the later sails have better luck because they already know the general area that the whales have been in throughout the day. But even if we hadnāt seen whales it was still worth it. We saw Stellar sea lions, California sea lions, black bears, raccoons, sea otters, and many many...

Saw black bears within 5 minutes of leaving the jetty and the had a further exhilarating 3hours where harbour seals, Californian seals, sea otters, bald eagles, steller sea lions and several grey whales featured. Brian was so pleasant, a fount of knowledge and an expert about the waters and wildlife in this magnificent area.
Kitted out in thermal survival suits we were well protected from the spray and some rain as we bounced over the incoming tide. The wind in our faces was so deliciously fresh and clean that I really question why anyone bothers with spa treatments - just climb aboard here and you get the best facial for free!
And then the soup and butties we had back at Brianās Grey Whale cafe completed a fabulous morning.
We highly recommend Subtidal Adventures (and Grey Whale cafe): great value, great fun, great people and great...
