Went there at about 6 PM on a Saturday and patiently waited for a table. They seated people that came in after us a few minutes before taking us to a very small booth. I am 6’1 and my friend is 6’4 and we nicely asked to be seated at a regular sized booth. The hostess said that the other ones were “reserved” even though there were no signs on the tables and the group after us were seated at a full sized booth. She then tried to discourage us from moving by telling us it would be another 20 mins to wait for a regular sized booth. Had to go across the street to Rogue where we were treated with respect and given a full sized table. Avoid this Cactus Club, it was obvious that the tables were not reserved because yet another group came in after us and they were told their table would be ready in a few minutes. Two groups came in after us without reservations and got seated at regular sized booths. Ridiculous. Update: I have been contacted by management and will provide an update after a future visit. Latest update: I would like to disclose that I was given two gift cards as a result of the previous initial visit and subsequent visit in which we were invited back by a manager. The second visit was made as a result of being invited by one of the managers of the Ash location. The visit was better than the first but the service was slow, there was an error on one of our orders, and after being told we would be taken care of with a credit, they simply took off chicken wings leaving us with a bill north of $50 for two burgers, a soda and a coffee. Complained again after feeling misled and was sent another gift card due to the miscommunication. Was told that 1.5 to 2 hours was “reasonable” for dining that included no alcohol, some chicken wings and two burgers. Parking is expensive in the area so I would caution that you should consider that before going here. Went to a different location since and wrapped up our meal under an hour and they had to remake one of of meals so we were left confused by the 1.5 to 2 hour standard dining time explanation. Overall they did make efforts to have us return by offering gift cards so I have raised the...
Read moreI am writing this today as I have tried to deal with management at this location but a proper response had not been met.
We went to this location around 2 months ago, and my wife goes to bite the chicken sandwich and the food pick (which is horizontally in the sandwich) cuts the roof of her mouth! We didn't cause much of an issue, and they took the food off the bill as my wife didnt want to eat anymore given the pain and blood in her mouth. In reality that food pick is pretty hard and it could have caused more damage. They should have done more then due to their mess up.
Now we hadn't been there since, but last week we go to pick up our approx $150 order. We get there early, and pick up our order. Realize they didn't have the extra chicken we ordered and paid for. My wife goes inside and in a condescending manner the second lady working the pick up window doesn't believe we didn't get the chicken, and makes he bring all the bags back. This frustrated me, but I left it. Now 30 minutes later we get home (after they cooked the chicken breast, but no comp) and realize none of the sauces for our two orders of chicken lettuce wrap bowls with extra chicken are there! Now I am done, not only is our food cold, our food is wrong and nothing on their part on taking ownership.
I speak to their manager on that night William, and explain everything that has happened before and now and he apologizes. He goes on to say he would comp us more than usual and today we got the $50.....$50?!? That covers just the bowls with chicken you guys messed up. You didn't even offer to send no fresh food with sauce, and this isn't even considering the food pick incident.
Anyways wouldn't recommend this cactus ever to anyone. I have had no issues with other cactus in Vancouver. Had to rant somewhere, thanks if you read until...
Read moreI'm a regular cactus customer and usually visit locations at New Westminster, Coquitlam, Burnaby or the one on English Bay and the service is always great.
Some three weeks ago (Mar 20, 2021) we couldn't make a reservation to English Bay so we decided to go to Broadway & Ash. The place was not particularly busy but the quality of service was far from great.
I ordered drinks and waited more than 15 mins. I went to the kitchen to see what was going on. 10 min later the drinks were served and the waitress apologized. We shortly after received the food, which was great, and the waitress told us that they had to take out the alcohol by order of the city so we rushed our drinks while eating only to find out that no one would come and see if we needed anything for the next 30 mins. Not even passing nearby! I had to go again to the kitchen to get something else to drink.
Good 15 min later when we finally got water because apparently the soda machine had been turned off for the day, I right away asked for the desert (which was included in the dish I ordered) and the manager told me that the kitchen was closed. At that point I was really upset and had to explain again that no one came to see if we needed anything for the last 40 mins. The original waitress came, apologized once again and some time later, we got the desert.
We wanted to have a nice dinner because the day after I was going through a medical procedure but turned out to be a really...
