I heard alot of good experiences from friends and families, even strangers about peaceful restaurant. I've even heard it was on the food network channel as well.
Upon entering we are greeted very quickly, and even though it was busy and full they acknowledged how long the wait will be. Luckily I didn't have to wait too long. Tables and chairs very clean and menus are impressive.
They do in house noodles, a northern chinese style. I love how these northern type chinese places have a see thru window so you can watch them make so many types of noodles. It's not as easy as it looks, it's alot of labor. On the menu I ordered the cold appy to start, the chicken and clear noodle. Wow... That was very nice. Light, refreshing, not heavy, not salty. Then the classic Dan Dan noodles with spicy peanut sauce, your choice of thin or thick noodles. I prefer the thin but I chose the thick because my friend likes the thick noodle. It's a very rich so I suggest sharing. It's delicious.
Remember guys the sauce is underneath sometimes 🤣. Roll your noodles around and man... It looks amazing! Then the spicy and tangy dumplings, also made in-house. Whoa jelly nelly! It's got kick! The dumplings are juicy, the texture of the dumpling skin is lovely. The broth tangy and spicy. My first experience and its real nice. It also cleared up my allergies 😂
Service is prompt on that night. Food delicious. Atmosphere very comforting. Would I come back again? YES! I saw the beef roll and I wanted to order that award winning dish, unfortunately I was too full... Above all prices are very reasonable. I would recommend this place for noodles no doubt. I can't wait to try the beef roll cause the booth next to us ordered it, and I heard a nice crunch from the lady who...
Read moreDidn't think this was actually possible, but I found a Chinese restaurant that does NOT carry white rice. Purple, stale-tasting and hella flaky, rice for days ONLY.
2 dishes and rice were ordered here, and the reviews are listed below, from best to worst:
#1, Xiao-Long Bao (1/5) - the most crucial and defining moment of XLB is the dumpling skin's ability to hold the soup. To my disbelief, 6 of the 7 XLBs that were served already had opened dumpling skin, thus leaving the XLB to be dry and soupless. This dish embraces the phrase "you only had 1 job to do and failed"...miserably by ~86%.
#2, Sichuan Pork Belly & Cabbage (0/5) - if Peaceful's goal of making pork belly from the Sichuan province of China equates to simply slathering viscous, salty brown sauce onto 8 mini-slices of pork belly and half-chopped cabbages, then Peaceful definitely nailed it, 100%.
#3, Purple Rice (0/5) - Let me just repeat again that this is the first Chinese restaurant I've been to that does not carry white rice. Instead, Peaceful only has purple rice which even leaves their own staff questioning why. In addition, our waitress told me that she thinks the purple rice also tastes stale and flaky, so she avoids it.
With below average and complete misrepresentation of Chinese food combined with mediocre service and a waitress who also questions why Peaceful serves terrible purple rice, needless to say, Peaceful Restaurant definitely provided a peace of mind...to never...
Read moreRestaurants are reopened again during this pandemic as of 1st week of June 2021. Arrived early at 5:15pm so as to avoid the possible crowd. As expected there were only 2 other tables total of 3 customers dining in. Hand sanitizer at entrance everywhere looked clean. I ordered steamed dumpling, fried long beans and chilli chicken pot. The Shanghai steamed dumpling scored 7/10 - fresh and hot, taste is good, however not juicer enough, the wrap was a bit too thick and dumpling should be better if the size were made a bit larger and the vinegar went with it should have some added fine shredded fresh ginger. The chilli beans 8/10- brands good not over fried, meat over marinated with baking soda as rather tasteless, dish could have tasted better if cooked drier; chilli chicken pot 7-10 taste is good, but chicken over fried as too dry. Order a bowl of Multi grain rice but it turned out to a bit under cooked. All dishes were served with disposal utensils (not foam). The only waitress working at the front was courteous and well mannered. I advised you should choose to sit away from the entrance where there were quite a few take away pickups throughout the meal. Place is recommended if you want to taste authentic northern Chinese cuisine. It a minute walk from Broadway Canada...
