Cheaper if you order in person
Bought the Friends and family bucket. Online it’s advertised for $49.99 but if you go to the store it’s advertised as $46.99 so you save yourself $3.
They said they don’t offer the 2L torpedo of pop and you get four cans of pop instead. I don’t see that as a fair replacement but the drink part wasn’t important to me. The bucket has a sample of deepfried fish, popcorn chicken, fried bone in chicken, fries, and fried bone in wings. It doesn’t come with chicken tenders so I can’t comment on those but they DO SELL chicken tenders.
Fish was really good and the four pieces were decent sized. They looked like chicken tenders if you weren’t paying attention. Fried chicken and wings were also good - nice amount of crunch and flavor and good sized pieces. My least favorite was the popcorn chicken - the meat was dense and the breading not as crunchy but similar to your generic popcorn chicken like you’d get at KFC.
The fries are breaded like the fries you get at Costco. Flavor wise my husband thought there was some sweetness to the breading on the chicken and the fish - similar to Taiwanese fried chicken. Personally I didn’t get the sweetness but I thought it was just plain tasty...
Read moreWe had the crispy chicken burger before and this time we got the spicy fried chicken combo and it was really crispy on the outside and juicy in the inside. They do their spicy chicken differently as they sprinkle their secret house blend spice powder on the surface covering most parts of the chicken just like how Jollibee does it and I think it’s a unique touch rather than mixing it on the batter itself. You can tell that the chicken had some secret marinade and were brined overnight as the pieces were well cooked as well making it really tender and juicy althroughout. One thing that we noticed too is that even when you have leftovers and you brought it home, it would still taste delicious afterwards!
The crispy chicken burger is out of this world and it’s really one the best out there (although full disclaimer we haven’t really tried all of the chicken burger spots out there so who are we to say that hahaha) but seriously having two 100% organic, locally sourced crispy chicken patties in there is a game changer plus put it on a simple brioche bun with cheddar cheese, tomatoes, lettuce and onion and you have yourself a...
Read moreThe portions are just a tad bit larger than what you'd normally expect to get at a fast food place, so you're guaranteed to be satisfied with the quantity portion. With the quality there are a few minor things I noticed that were initially offputting but later become more evident.
With the burgers, the lack of acidity in the sauce makes the chicken overall feel really fatty and excessively creamy, the tomatoes don't help much but instead contribute to make the burger feel soggy in general. With the drumsticks, they feel overall bland, the batter is excellent but ultimately it tastes like just fried dough because of a noticeable lack of spices. With the popcorn chicken there is a strange aftertaste, I know for sure it was probably one of the spices put into the chicken but I can't pinpoint what it is. Whatever it is it makes me reach for my drink to wash it out.
In all honesty, the actual fried chicken is amazing, the chicken is juicy and the batter is crispy and crunchy. However, I do feel that a few optimizations can be made to the flavoring, because right now the more you bite into it the more you notice these...
