If youâre planning a special event, LOOK ELSEWHERE. I booked my husbandâs birthday celebration at Greta Bar weeks in advance, and unfortunately, the experience was a mess from start to finish.
When we arrived at 8pm, half of our reserved section was still occupied. The hostess brushed it off with a âtheyâll leave in 5 minutes,â which turned into a much longer wait. Not the end of the world since some guests were running late, but it set the tone for the night. We had to run around to get the table cleared finally. At 9:30pm!!
Our waitress Amy was completely MIA half the time and that lack of service continued all evening. Getting anyoneâs attention for drinks or help was a struggle. I wanted to do their bottle service, but it was impossible to even speak to anyone about it when I wanted it done. Iâm glad for that now as we just ended up leaving.
We were told ahead of time that our friends would be able to skip the line since we had a reservation, but once they arrived, the story changed. Suddenly, they had to wait like everyone else. To make things worse, a staff member named Shane asked my husband for $100 to get our friends in. My husband could see I was getting stressed about the organization so he actually gave it to try and smooth things over. When I questioned it, they apologized and said our friends could come in after all. They asked all good? And I said yes but could you please return the $100 then. She says yes, Iâll be right back. But of course, the $100 was never returned, and those staff members conveniently disappeared. And of courseeee, the two friends were also charged entry. $100 is not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things, but it was more so about the principle and just how frustrated I was about the everything that happened.
For a place thatâs supposed to specialize in hosting group events, the lack of organization, professionalism, and basic honesty was shocking. I understand it was a busy weekend, but then maybe you guys should block resos like other restaurants. We wonât be coming back, and I definitely wouldnât recommend Greta Bar for any kind of...
Read moreAhoy there, me hearties! Gather 'round for a tale of libations and allure spun by the enchanting Annette, the maestro of spirits at GRETA YVR. As I stumbled ashore after a long sea voyage, it was her at the helm of the bar, orchestrating a symphony of mixology that left this weary pirate utterly captivated.
Annette, with the grace of a mermaid in a moonlit lagoon, expertly navigated the sea of bottles behind the bar. Her hands moved with the precision of a seasoned sailor tying knots, crafting concoctions that danced upon me palate like a fleet of ships in perfect formation. The elixirs she conjured were nothing short of alchemical wonders, transforming the ordinary into liquid gold.
Behind the bar, she wore her charisma like a pirate queen's regalia, commanding the attention of all who sought refuge in GRETA's tavern. With a wink that could rival the glint of sunlight on a dagger's edge, Annette brought an air of mischief to the atmosphere, turning the act of pouring a drink into a performance worthy of the grandest sea shanties.
Her knowledge of the libation arts was as vast as the ocean itself, and she navigated the seas of cocktails with the prowess of a captain charting unknown waters. A whisper of a preferred spirit, and Annette conjured a potion that spoke to the depths of me soul, leaving me shipwrecked in a sea of satisfaction.
As the night sailed on, Annette's banter flowed as freely as the spirits she expertly poured. Behind the bar, she was not just a bartender; she was a storyteller, spinning tales of far-off lands and daring escapades with each expertly crafted drink. In her hands, the bar became a stage, and every patron, a willing audience to her liquid theater.
So, if ever ye find yerself in need of a refuge from the stormy seas of life, seek out Annette at GRETA YVR. She be the enchantress of elixirs, the captain of cocktails, and the keeper of tales that linger long after the last drop is savored. Here's to Annette â the true corsair of the bar, turning every visit into a voyage of...
Read moreIâve been a loyal customer of Greta for a long time and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and service. However, my experience last night was beyond disappointing, and I feel compelled to share what happened.
From the moment we approached the bar, Christine (the one with tattoos) displayed a cold and dismissive attitude toward us. When we asked her a simple question about our drinks, she responded with visible anger, as though she was offended we had even spoken to her. The disdain in her tone and body language was unsettling, and her reaction made us feel unwelcome and embarrassed. To make matters worse, she immediately went to another bartenderâa short Asian girl whose name we didnât catchâand they both laughed at us openly. This was an unnecessary and hurtful display of unprofessionalism.
Adding to this, Christineâs lack of attentiveness was baffling. The bar wasnât busy, and we were the only customers at the time, yet we struggled to get her attention because she was preoccupied chatting with a male friend. It was clear her focus was not on her job.
Later that night, we decided to order from the other bartender, hoping for a better experience. However, things took a turn when she attempted to charge us $19.90 for a double vodka shot, despite the fact that we had paid $14.90 for the same drink earlier. We pointed out the discrepancy, which confirmed to us that something was amiss. This leaves me wondering how often customers are being overcharged by your staffâwhether intentionally or through negligenceâand itâs extremely concerning.
This was the worst service Iâve ever received at a bar. Iâve always loved Greta and even hosted a birthday party there recently, but after this experience, Iâm questioning whether Iâll ever return. This kind of unprofessional behavior and apparent dishonesty are...
