I've come here for beers on the weekend many a time but never for food. Tried it today. 30 min wait for food in front of me from when I walked in at 12:45pm. 15min in I was given a tiny glass of completely flat watery Pepsi (@ $3.35). I had to go to the bar myself and wait to get that rectified. Sheppard's Pie was... "acceptable" but not great. Tiny amount of meat and veggies at the bottom covered with a massive layer of mashed potatoes. I enquired about refills on my pop and was told they had them but staff never returned to refill. Long wait for my bill which seemed way too much for my subpar meal followed by another long wait to pay. Highly doubt I'll come here for lunch again. Clearly shortstaffed. I was there for 1 hour. Should've honestly been 20-30min.

I recently had a delightful dinner gathering at this place. Our server was very kind and attentive to our large group, which was much appreciated. I ordered the fish and chips as well as the salmon dish, and both were scrumptious. The atmosphere was great, with live music playing throughout the evening, which kept us entertained. I highly recommend dropping by for a drink and enjoying the live music when in Gastown. It's a fantastic place for a bar with ample seating, good drinks, tasty food, and even an arcade. It's perfect for groups or for those who want to have a relaxing and enjoyable time. Just keep in mind that you have to exchange bills for coins. They also have plenty of TVs if you want to catch a game.

Menu clearly advertised the drink as being $7 as a sunday special. Then after having 4, the bill is $55 instead of around $32 inc tax. Then the workers said yeah basically we have to charge you $55 despite what the menu said since the system isn’t updated, and just gave us 2 more glasses of the same drink. Which totals about $47 so we basically paid them $8 extra for nothing??? Shocking.. and from a big establishment there was no attempt to make it up in any way nor even solve the issue that your menu is lying to customers?? Useless.

Update: Since posting my original review, the Restaurant Contacted me regarding some of the issues I discussed in my Original Review, which is still at the bottom of this one. I was invited back and was very pleasantly surprised at the experience!

To start off with, I maintain what was in my original review. The Food is good. I've not had any issues with the dishes themselves in the slightest.

My complaints about the Service have been, as far as I can tell, completely resolved. Service to myself, and the tables around me, was excellent. Fast, friendly and very polite, it was a wonderful experience that I personally think I will engage in again!

Once again, there aren't many vegetarian options here, but reiterating what I said above, the vegetarian options that do exist are excellent in taste and quality.

Overall, very pleased with the experience, and would go again!

4/5 Stars! Good Service Good Bathrooms Good Food Good Drinks Not many vegetarian options.

Original Review:

Visited the other day, for drinks and dinner. Left after a somewhat bittersweet time because of several issues.

Firstly, the food served here is good. No issues there. Delicious, probably not the healthiest, but still good enough to order. No complaints on that end from me.

Where I do start to have complaints is with the Decor and Staff. When we were seated, we found that the area we were seated in wasn't the best. Peeling fabric on the seats and dust on the windowsill and plants surrounding us didn't make the best impression.

After we were seated it took about 20-25 minutes before we were asked for our orders, in a mostly empty restaurant. After we received our food, we finished our drinks relatively quickly and enjoyed our dinner. However, no other Staff Members came by our table for the next 40 minutes. Our server was sitting at the Bar, talking with customers during that period.

Notably, this location does not have many Vegetarian options. Would recommend going elsewhere if accommodating Vegetarians,...

This place was packed when I went in (it was Friday at 5pm) so given that fact, I knew going in that it was going to be busy and I may have to wait longer for things. The sign out front boasted “toronto maple leaf game at 4:30pm” As an avid fan, I figured it would be a great spot to catch the game. We managed to grab a seat when we arrived and we ordered wine and potato fritters which were delicious. We had 3 different servers who very obviously did not communicate with each other. This meant we were asked the same questions multiple times, which i suppose is better than a lack of service. I had asked all 3 of the servers at different times about putting the leaf game on tv because despite advertising it, it was not on. 2 of the 3 servers told me it was on and pointed to the screens playing the Islanders and Capitals game. I felt bad asking for a 4th time so I managed to find someone at the bar who could help me out and by this time it was the 3rd period with 8 min left. I only came here because they were “playing the game” but again, I know it was busy. Also we ordered another drink just before happy hour ended with one of our 3 servers but by the time it got entered and a second server entered it in the system we no longer got the happy hour price which is just annoying in a principle sort of sense. Overall it was a good environment (once the game was on) and the food and drinks were good but I wouldn’t expect anything above average here, seemed pretty unorganized and like everyone was just trying to keep their heads above water, but I’ve been there so I get it, just semi-disappointed. They have a sign advertising the Oilers and Flames game tonight, maybe you’ll get to see the Rangers and Bruins...

I was at the Lamplighter last night for the first time in 5 years and had a horrible experience with one of its staff members. I was sitting at a table with some friends for a birthday party when the table next to me smashed a glass on the ground. A gentleman came over and started sweeping it up with his feet at which point I said "Hey don't worry about that they will come sweep it up, I don't want you to have glass stuck to you". The gentleman got seemingly upset for no reason and informed me that he was a staff member and pointed it out on his shirt. I said I didn't realize but he continued to berate me for now reason. I then went to the washroom and on my return he was standing close to my table staring me down. At this point I was upset and decided to flip him off and he immediately came up to me and assaulted me and grabbed both my arms behind my back and escorted me out. I did not fight whatsoever and as soon as he had me outside I think he realized he had made a big mistake and ran back inside before explaining the situation to the other bouncers. I explained the situation and they couldn't believe what had happened. My friends from the bday party, about 12 people, all came outside and couldn't believe the situation either. One of the bouncers escorted me back inside to get my jacket, unfortunately I was not allowed to finish my drink. All 12 of my friends/acquaintances left the bar with me after the incident. On top of everything, I have a previous shoulder injury(Snowboard accident) and woke up to extreme pain from a completely unnecessary attack. I will never go back to this establishment and I will be looking into launching a full complaint and possibly...
