We had a very disappointing experience at The Greek in Gastown on Father’s Day. We were not there to celebrate Father’s day but instead had brought a friend here for her first time. I have been to The Greek before on a few occasions. I have been to both the Yaletown and the Gastown locations. On this particular occasion the service was incredibly slow. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy. The small patio was full but we sat at one of only two tables with diners inside the restaurant. We were quite happy to be inside out of the heat. The server was friendly and kept topping up our water while we waited. I have enjoyed coming to this restaurant in the past as the decor, atmosphere and music is always great and the food is usually good! After waiting for almost an hour for our food to come out, a new server approached the table and asked us if we were ready to order. I notified her that we had already ordered and had been waiting for a long time already. She said she would check with the kitchen. We waited around another 15 minutes before the food came out. (total time around 70 minutes). When the food finally arrived we were then further disappointed by the bland tasting Moussaka and poorly chopped up Greek salad. I note that the cucumber in the Greek salad was thinly chopped but not cut all the way through which left it in long strands of slices. If you can imagine needing to use your knife to further chop the cucumber so that you didn't need to eat it like chunky spaghetti, then you'll get the gist of the experience. The three of us had all ordered the Moussaka upon my recommendation of it from my previous visits to The Greek. Unfortunately, this time it was bland and tasteless. I know what good Moussaka should taste like, being from a Greek family, myself. I also go out to eat Greek food all around Vancouver. I hope this was a one-off but it wasn't a pleasant experience overall. Unfortunately, it has put me off wanting to eat the Moussaka there again. Especially after having recommended it to my friend and it not being good at all. I can think of a few other Greek restaurants in Vancouver where the Moussaka is delicious every time without fail and comes with Greek potatoes included and a decent Greek Salad. For the price you can certainly get better elsewhere. I think I'll only go to The Greek for drinks from now on. I hope this feedback will allow the management of The Greek to look into the quality control of the food/service time at the The Greek in...

TLDR: Great Atmosphere and service. Price is okay if you get some of their deals. I think the quality of the food is definitely good but I'm not convinced it's the best value.

So I've been here twice now, I originally gave this place 2 stars and wrote my old review which you can read below. James (the Manager) took my feedback and gave me a gift card to come back a second try so here's my new review.

I definitely think the food was better this time around. Service and atmosphere was great once again, the music was really nice this time around too.

The value was much better this time around as we got the wine and almost all dishes 40% off due to their wine tuesday and social media discounts respectively.

We got a platter of different foods, the trio dip, warm olives, keftedes, lamb youvetsi, grilled squid and baklava. The hummus and tyrosalata were very good. The Keftedes and Lamb Youvetsi were also highlights. The Baklava was tasty but didn't really crumble like I'm used to for a Baklava, it was very difficult to pull apart. The ice cream was extremely high quality.

Overall this place is decent, I think the vibe is great the employees seem happy and it's very cozy. I still can't unfortunately shake the feeling that I would prefer other Greek food elsewhere. The overall portion size, price and quality of food doesn't quite hit the mark for me which is a shame because I do really want to give The Greek a...

As someone who’s been to both the Greek locations, this one is absolutely my favourite.

I hosted a celebration dinner here and I can’t even exaggerate when I say that it was the best special occasion dinner I’ve ever had. 🍾

The food was all really good. I especially like the new pork dish that they serve with fries (I forgot the name) and the platters are all amazing too. They have a house-made tzatziki that I think about ALL THE TIME.

The drinks are also amazing, I’ve tried quite a couple off their cocktail menu, and they hit the mark every time. The espresso martini deserve their own shoutout. Absolutely incredible.

🌟 However, what made this place the best special occasion dinner I’ve ever had was the service provided by Adam and Olivia!!! 🌟 Beginning to end, the service was so impressive. I don’t think I’ve ever dined at a local restaurant that made me feel so at home and taken care of. I felt like they went through lengths to make it felt special. We even brought in a cake that got smushed during transit 😢😢 and they did their best to fix it up for me and it looked impressively amazing. Seriously saved my night.

Needless to say, I’ll definitely be back. With so many restaurants in the area, this one...

Our family had a lovely evening two nights ago at the Greek Restaurant in Gastown. The ambiance was perfect—quiet, with candlelight creating a cozy and intimate atmosphere. We were seated close to the window in a round table nearby the stairs. The interior is beautifully designed, and the service was very attentive throughout the night. We indulged in a variety of dishes, starting with the taster pita bread with 3 dips, then the Souvlaki platter with grilled tender chicken, beef, and prawn skewers, each perfectly grilled and full of flavor (this serving is huge/ suggest sharing). The Greek salad was fresh with lots of cucumber, olives, tomatoes, and feta cheese, plus just the right amount of light olive oil dressing. The Moussaka was rich and comforting. Very unique and seems like there’s some coconut shaved stuff below. To finish, we had a chocolate dessert that was decadent and satisfying, paired with expertly crafted cocktail drinks. I’ve been to their Yaletown location quite a few times, but I have to say I prefer this Gastown spot—it’s less crowded, making for a more relaxed dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back!
