House of India stands unique as an institution that offers genuine Indian food. Each trip to House of India delivers twofold satisfaction because it serves both delicious food and memorable service. Staff members at this restaurant greet guests with warmth while showing excellent attention to service. You experience extraordinary treatment from this staff because they work hard to create a comfortable environment and deliver their services cheerfully. The staff at House of India will offer assistance to both novice Indian food customers and seasoned enthusiasts who are searching for their new favorite dish.

I cannot stop praising the Chicken Lababdar for its unbelievable quality that makes it my top recommendation. Theicken tenders have reached the perfect consistency while the sauce maintains its luxurious creaminess alongside traditional strong aromatic spices. People continue returning to this dish over and over again to savor it again. Serve the Chicken Lababdar either with their homemade naan or their aromatic rice to experience an unforgettable dining experience.

House of India excels in both mind-blowing taste together with abundant portion sizes as well as superior dining service. Your dining experience at House of India will be completely satisfactory whether you decide to stay within the restaurant or choose to bring the food home. Take the opportunity to visit—the experience will probably become your favorite eating...

My friends and I went to this restaurant during their first week of opening. It was a brand new restaurant so we overlooked a few things, especially the service. We waited for a very long time for the server to get our order even though the restaurant was virtually empty. When she came, she didn't come prepared with a notepad or anything. So she spent even more time looking for things to write on. She ended up writing our order on a piece of napkin.

The food was decent. The chef/owner actually helped out in the dining room and stopped by to check on us. He sounded like a good guy.

However, things went down hill from there. We came to the counter to pay, and without giving us the bill (that breaks down what we have ordered), the server pointed to us the credit card machine to tap. We didn't think much of it and paid. They also couldn't split the bill between us even though it's a very common thing to do at restaurants; they could only do one single bill. Once the second receipt came out, we were shocked to find that we spent over $30 for 4 normal veggie samosas. That's insane! We knew what we got, and those samosas weren't special in anyway. After a long discussion with the owner and the server (not in English since my friend knew their language), the owner said sorry and still gave us the wrong change back. Twice! At this point, I was tired and just wanted to leave. Didn't even want to get the rest of...

My friend and I had to find another Indian restaurant after Sitar closed down, and this place did not disappoint!!

The food was amazing. I'm a huge fan of Lamb Vindaloo which is my first dish at any Indian restaurant to see if I like it. The presentation was clean and the restaurant had a clean, fresh look. We ordered a side of plain rice, and 2 dishes (Lamb Vindaloo and Aloo Gobi) and some Chai Masala! We were served a light appetizer cracker dish before the meal while we waited (not requested or charged) and some Naan and dessert to try! They really cared about the impression they made and were attentive on how the food was. The overall price was reasonable for what you expect. (About $50 for the whole meal for us).

Surprisingly a lot of space!! Most restaurants in this area are quite small but inside is open and doesn't feel crowded or like you're bumping your neighbour. On the outside it doesn't look like much, but don't be fooled.

Thank you, House of India. I will definately be back to try more dishes! Highly recommend this place.

PS - They've had some price adjustments/increases since opening. Nothing drastic, but be aware pictures of the menu or lunch menu board may...

We went to this restaurant for dinner, but it turned out to be a disappointing experience. First, the prices charged were higher than the menu prices. Gol gappe were listed at $7.90 but charged $9.90, white sauce pasta was $15.99 but charged $16.90, and pop was $1.90 but charged $2.99—an extra $4.00 in total. When we told the server about this, he said that’s what the system showed and didn’t offer to adjust or refund the extra amount. The customer service was below average. Despite the restaurant not being busy, the servers were not attentive. No one checked on us during the meal to see if we needed anything, and we had to call them every time. When we had gol gappe, they didn’t give napkins even though it’s messy to eat with your hands. They served gol gappa water in a jar but didn’t provide bowls to drink it unless we asked. These are basic things that should not have to be requested. The servers were polite, but politeness isn’t enough when the service lacks attention to detail and care for the customers. They seemed indifferent and uninterested in making the dining experience enjoyable. The food itself was just okay, nothing special. With overcharged prices, poor service, and average food, we wouldn’t go back.

House of India is an absolute gem in Vancouver’s Chinatown! From the moment you step in, the warm and inviting ambiance sets the stage for an incredible dining experience. The food is simply outstanding authentic, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend the butter chicken and garlic naan; they are among the best I’ve ever had. The biryani is aromatic and packed with flavor, and the samosas are crispy, fresh, and perfectly spiced. The menu is diverse, catering to both vegetarians and meat lovers alike. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to make your dining experience enjoyable. They went out of their way to accommodate our requests and even suggested dishes based on our preferences. Whether you’re a fan of Indian cuisine or trying it for the first time, House of India is a must-visit. Amazing food, excellent service, and great value for money. I can’t wait to come back with friends and family. Highly recommended!

The best meals I’ve had in an awhile. First off the Chana samosa appetizer, tasted like I was in heaven 100/10 recommended it’s so good like I can’t even explain it. Next the goat biryani: chef kiss amaaazing. Then the veg Manchurian OH MY GOD THE BEST THING I’VE EVER HAD, the sweet and savoury sauce, all the flavours just the best thing. Then the Manchurian mixed with the egg fried rice….EVEN BETTER 🤤🤤 I recommend it. Lastly the chicken leg pieces, bro I don’t even like chicken and I ate them finishing the last bite. Also the customer service 10/10, I felt very cared for and respected. So if you visit Chinatown hungry, this is your place to go😜👍👍👍👍.
