This is a “Honest review from Canadian-born Asian Guy”

I was in the mood for pho yesterday and I used the Google machine to see what was around. I actually went into another restaurant at first but left after I stood at the entrance for a few minutes and no one came around. Worked out perfectly because Ivy’s Kitchen popped up on the map and I was intrigued as it was showing at the previous location of long time favourite Pho Tan.

The interior has not changed much from what I remember and even the awning is still the familiar green colour except for the updated “Ivy’s Kitchen”. Upon entering I was quickly greeted by the friendly staff and seated. Now there are a few items that I generally look for in a Vietnamese restaurant and I love to try Bun Bo Hue when I get the chance. I had a dilemma though as the item right above Bun Bo Hue on the menu caught my eye. I could not decide so I asked the very helpful server and she suggested the Pho Sate with Beef.

I was not disappointed when the vibrant coloured and delicious smelling broth arrived in front of me. The Sate soup is peanut and coconut milk based so you can imagine how delightful the smell must be (as long as you don’t have any 🥜 allergies). The beef was neatly piled on top and was excellent quality. Now for the soup it was everything that I could want: smooth, creamy and body-warming on this wet Vancouver afternoon. Nothing quite beats a hot bowl of noodle soup to get you through the cold. If you enjoy coconut based soups and broth and you like peanuts then definitely give this a try. The Bun Bo Hue will have to wait for my next visit and I return I will!

This “hole in the wall” Vietnamese restaurant is my new favourite place to get Pho in the city. I was taken here and was told its the best and i was kind of in disbelief because i have had my fair share of good and bad pho through the years and i am yet to find a truly amazing pho place here in Vancouver.

As i went in i was greated by some sweet and welcoming ladies as they sat me and my family down at a table. It was a calm and CLEAN atmosphere which is super important to me so i appreciated that.

I was told to order #23 which was the “Satay noodle soup beef in peanut sauce & coconut milk”….. i have never had such thing but as soon as it hit the table i was shocked. Amazing presentation with fresh sprouts and mint on the side.

Im telling you…. This dish is nothing like ive ever had before. Saying its delicious is an understatement.

TO ALL PHO LOVERS - you have not experienced pho until you come to ivy’s kitchen. If i could rate this a 10 you...

Phenomenal experience, this joint is dope and hands down probably the best vegetarian Vietnamese experience outside of Vietnam!! Whilst the satay wasn't what I'm used to, it was absolutely flawless and so incredibly yummy which perfectly complimented some huge fat Gỏi cuốn (Vietnamese Fresh Salad Rolls) stuffed with Tofu and fresh veggies. The portion size was great, although probably more for two people I had no problem polishing them off as they were so good. The Pho Ćhay again stuffed with a plentiful portion of tofu, also had an awesome and splendid satay base. I literally slurped every last drop of the entire thing, wow super tasty! Staff were also kind enough to throw me in some extra chillies to make it nice and spicy, perfection. Staff are incredibly friendly, very kind and approachable as well as fantastically talented at making out of this world grub! I cannot wait to visit here again and is a solid go-to option.
