This coffee shop was adorable and located so close to the beach with good parking around. The biggest issue was the quality of the food and its price. For an almost $7 mocha it tasted extremely milky. It seemed to lack any espresso or chocolate. I asked if the mocha was made with real chocolate or powder, but it seems they just gave me a cup of milk with chocolate syrup and a shot of espresso which is absolutely unacceptable for the price. I could go to a much cheaper shop down the street for way better. I ordered the pesto avocado breakfast sandwich and was extremely unimpressed as well. You couldn’t taste the pesto and the guacamole was so acidic you couldn’t taste anything else. it barely fit in the palm of my hand - which for $12 was an extreme rip off. My friends both got drinks that were also sub par - an EXTREMELY acidic strawberry cold brew and a disgustingly bubbly iced drink.
For paying $21 for a drink and a sandwich I feel absolutely robbed. I could’ve had a much better drink and meal at starbucks for half the price.
The only positive thing was the wonderful workers. I asked for my mocha to be remade and while it did have more of a taste it still continued to be extremely milky - which proves to me it’s the fault of the shop for cheap ingredients and a bad recipe.
When you come here just know you are paying for the aesthetic and atmosphere- if you want something to actually eat Id go somewhere else. It’s clear that they abuse the look of the place to steal out of...
Read moreKits Beach Coffee( KBC) is a breath of fresh air, both literally & metaphorically. Totally reconceived & redecorated, mostly in white with some flashes of colour, the cool breezes — which enter the eatery — are perfect for sipping their specialities — coffee & its delicious in-house made beer. There is both inside & outside seating, imaginatively designed with a delightful swing double chair to lounge on. It opened recently, replacing the former Bean Around The World. The service from staff is wonderful & the co-owner, Dana (the brewmaster) is a delight. He certainly has hospitality genes. He kindly offered me samples of his beers. The IPA — with touches of coriander & grapefruit — was truly delicious. In fact, all were great. The beers are also sold to-go at 14 plus $ a pack or 3:75 $ a can. It also makes a terrific ginger beer. with all natural ingredients. It is open from 7.30 am to 6 pm with it operating til 11 pm on Saturdays. It is expanding its food menu, for breakfast & lunch & will extend further into a dinner menu. KBC is pursing a license which will allow it to extend seating, as well as operating hours & offerings. I was in late afternoon & had its very tasty chocolate orange beet loaf. Perfect — moist & not too sweet. It was nicely busy & expected to get far busier, as people came to the Kits neighborhood to watch Japan begin the fireworks 2022 summer series, KBC is great & deserves to be busy most...
Read moreEvery time I take the bus down Cornwall Ave I notice Kits Beach Coffee. It’s hard to miss. There’s just something about the corner street location, the architecture, the colors, the contrast…that looks so cool. Even in the winter with bare tress and empty streets, Kits Coffee looks cool.
I think it’s because I’m a photographer so I’m visually biased. I guess we all have our own criteria for the perfect coffee shop. Luckily in Vancouver we have an abundance of choice, so there is a coffee shop for everyone.
I finally got tired of taking pictures of Kits Coffee from the bus window and went to check this place out. It was a cold, winter day and of course it was just my luck that there wasn’t any seating available inside. The place is popular so it was full, which makes perfect sense.
It’s not a big coffee shop, but that makes it cozy, and the staff are nice. Big bright windows, interesting art on the walls, and they have their own merch. The place has a very lived in feel to it. Very homey.
I got a coffee and croissant and went outside where there is ample seating. There were some die-hard customers outside on the benches who were having a full-on meal. And they seemed perfectly happy. These are the type of customers that every coffee shop needs to survive. I only lasted about five minutes in the cold and then I had to go. I can walk all day in the cold, but I’m not good at...
