I really really liked the vibe here! They have very comfortable seating and the decoration is modern and fun. For some reason I thought it was a counter-service place, but there is table service. It’s super casual though. Very nice staff! I got there around 1:30 on a Sunday and was surprised to find the place almost empty, but it meant I got a huge couch to myself. The food menu mainly focuses on Taiwanese-style fried food. Lots of chicken, lots of beef, some seafood, very limited vegetarian. I decided to try the “Vege and Grilled Cheese Burger”. I was not really sure what this would entail but it was significantly cheaper than the salmon burger ($6 vs $12) I was considering so I decided to take the chance. The reason it was so cheap became clear once it was brought out and I saw that it was literally a cheeseburger without the patty. Just cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles with sauce on a bun. Mostly lettuce. Based on what was there, I could imagine that an actual burger from them would be delicious if you had that craving, but this was a sad excuse for a vegetarian sandwich. For drinks, there’s wide variety of bubble tea, and they also have a basic selection of beer, wine, and spirits. I had a much more successful experience with the drink. I got the seasonal Sakura Yogurt drink. The floral flavour was strong but natural and the yogurt gave it some nice tang so it wasn’t too sweet. It came with crystal jelly, but I didn’t realize this when I ordered so I also added red bean, which actually also went really well with the sakura flavour. The layering with a juice layer with topping, a yogurt layer, a slush, and then whipped cream and pretzels on top was pretty and fun to drink. This was about $8, which was really worth it for the complexity and size of the drink. I got the medium size (the smaller of two options) and it was still pretty big! I would definitely recommend the drinks and I would give the food another try and just try...

Taiwanese 🇹🇼 wow .. great value ..

Kurotaki House is an absolute gem of a Taiwanese restaurant in downtown Vancouver! I recently visited during happy hour and was blown away by the incredible food, value, and hospitality.

I ordered the chicken nugget rice and the beef noodle soup, and both dishes exceeded expectations. The beef noodle soup was packed with tender, flavorful meat and had a perfectly balanced broth—not overly salty and without a hint of MSG. It was simply delicious. The chicken nugget rice was generous in portion size, with crispy, juicy chicken that was cooked to perfection.

Happy hour made the experience even better—yam fries and fish cake appetizers were only $2 each with an order of beef noodle soup. Additionally, we tried the Taiwanese sausage, which was regular price but absolutely worth it. The sausage was a standout: not too greasy, perfectly seasoned, and a great complement to the rest of the meal. The appetizers rounded out the experience wonderfully, adding variety without overwhelming the meal. To top it all off, both mains came with a light and delightful sakura-flavored pudding for dessert, the perfect sweet ending to an already fantastic meal.

The staff, who are Taiwanese, were warm, attentive, and incredibly hospitable, adding to the overall experience. The combination of authentic flavors, excellent service, and unbeatable value makes Kurotaki House one of the best Taiwanese restaurants in the Lower Mainland.

This is a must-visit spot for anyone who loves Taiwanese cuisine. A solid 5/5 for flavor, value, and service. Highly...

  • Wanted to update this since the menu has completely changed on us after going 25+ times or so?. We really miss the 2 for 1 Bubble tea at happy hour and all the prices as i used to go all the time with the gf. And we live in the building! Sorry still love you guys, but the menu has changed too much and the prices went up and no more happy hour deals with the food that i love.... I'll still get the soy garlic popcorn chicken and wonton soup though, but that's it. 😉

We just moved into the Peter Wall building but we have lived DT for many years and have conquered Davie and denman and many other areas. We love this place, from the crazy food menu to the huge selection of bubble tea literally just below us and we came for happy hour 🍻 drinks and eats and just loved their food. Service was friendly and nice also. *editing my review as I’m ordering more of course. The oreo milk tea was so good and the ghost 👻 pepper popcorn chicken was so hot! Lol but I love it We will be coming back for years!!! 🥳 ** editing again as we ordered the Calamari and wonton soup x2 and how did I miss this before?? I’m a huge wonton fan and very picky and can tell these were hand 🤚 made and they were extremely tasty!! And we loved the calamari, perfectly breaded. You guys are a real...
