It was my first time at Pho 37, and now I understand the name—it’s inspired by their famous Tuan’s Beef Noodle Soup, which is No. 37 on the menu. It did not disappoint! The broth was incredibly savory, with a rich depth of spices and beef flavors that tasted like it had been simmered for days. The beef meat, a critical element for me, was sliced to the perfect thickness and cooked just right—medium rare to well done. The proportion of the meat, noodle, and soup was good. The slippery rice noodles complemented everything beautifully, and I thoroughly enjoyed slurping them up. The serving is very generous that I wasn’t able to finish everything as I was too full.
Back to my Pho experience…. after my first sip and bite, I loved that the condiments—sliced garlic, chili oil, and hoisin sauce—were already on the table to let me customize the flavours to my gusto. The soup was hearty, meaty, and by far one of the best bowls of pho I’ve had in Vancouver.
As for the other dishes, they were fairly standard—nothing distinct or unique compared to other Vietnamese restaurants in town. They were all good. If you’re looking for value, I’d recommend going for their combinations over single-orders, as they’re far more worth it.
Service was quick, and we were comfortably seated at a nice round table. The instrumental Christmas music echoed the beautiful high ceiling in the background which added a pleasant touch to the ambiance. Overall, it was a delightful experience, and I’ll be back for that...
Read moreHad great experiences at the Richmond location, so I decided to try this one a few weeks ago. The food tasted similar, but my only complaint then was the lack of AC on a hot day. I visited again tonight, thinking it would be better with cooler weather, but it was a disappointing experience.
Service was lacking—our young server asked us to wait to take our order while he prioritize to cleaned a table first, then forgot about us. It took three attempts to get our order right. Initially, he said he could remember it (just two items), then asked for paper, and later returned to confirm our order again.
Our chicken vermicelli arrived in less than 3 minutes, and it was obviously not fresh. The chicken was barely warm, the beansprouts were yellow and spoiled, and the salad wasn’t fresh either. We had to repeatedly ask the server for basics like a bowl, chopsticks, and a plate for sauce—why not just leave a sauce plate on the table?
The final straw was the overwhelming thirst I’m feeling at 12:46 a.m. which made me decide to leave this review - likely from a large amount of MSG, even though the restaurant claimed there was none. I don’t remember feeling this way after my previous visit or at the Richmond location. It seems like the management has changed, and not for the better.
Not sure if I’ll be returning after my experience tonight, especially because of the...
Read moreDope Vietnamese grub! We started with a Gỏi cuốn which was really good, very fresh and vibrant tasting, huge yummy fat rolls stuffed with super tasty filling and plenty of wholesome ingredients. The satay dressing was also perfect and a great blend, so good that I added it additionally to my satay veggie pho! The satay noodle soup is the best I have ever had, super yummy in which words cannot describe and an awesome experience. I could eat this for days and is a rad alternate for veggies so you get to have a nice tasting broth that isn't bland from just vegetables and minimum effort, nor also isn't meat-based broth. A solid and for sure Pho, fantastically and lipsmackingly delicious. Staff advised it'd be super spicy and handed me a bunch of chillis but wasn't as hot as I'd hoped or thought. Without a doubt, this joint is an unquestionable five star without hesitation when solely based on the food. An ultimate perfect way to top off a fantastic experience end of week and bring on the weekend vibes! Support...
