Market Meats — Restaurant in Vancouver

Noticing all these complaints about the smallest things. (eye-roll) but lets be real. From the moment you walk in to when you leave its an amazing experience. I've never ENJOYED going into a butcher shop until I came to this one. I get greeted instantly, the energy there from every person wearing a MASK OR NOT (But they all do) are so friendly and do their best to make your experience a great one. Everything my boyfriend and I have ever bought there is amazing. What do you expect when you walk into a butcher shop, of course youre going to be paying more. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. QUALITY MEATS! If you want to be cheap, go to superstore. Just saying. Eating is a great time and these guys get you excited to rush home and make dinner. AND their house made jerky is to DIE FOR. I love jerky but these ones are next level. I will always be coming back to this meat shop and recommend others to get their meats from them too....

This butcher was great in the past but not sure what changed - recently I purchased two "canadian" beef tenderloin cuts and I had to choose the only 2 out of the 8 that didn't have significant oxidization already (more brown than red). Should have known to walk out right then and there.

After paying $65 for the two small steaks I went home and cooked them. I've cooked hundreds of steaks and am well aware of different techniques etc. to ensure a good sear and medium rare inside.

The meat was tough and dry and lacked taste. I honestly believe this could have been defrosted that day or at least definitely not remotely fresh.

Long story short - product no longer justifies the price. ...

This morning I bought a flank steak from Market Meats and paid for it with cash. When I got home, I discovered the sticker price on the steak was $10 LESS than what I was told it was. Whoever the fellow was who served me today went home $10 richer. He was, by the way, rather excited when I told him I was paying cash. My fault maybe...I should have double checked the price before leaving the store but nonetheless, it's not cool to steal from customers.
