My recent dinner at Coal Harbor- it completely blew my mind-the food was incredible. Here’s why you need to visit:
Service is amazing and the team is super friendly and attentive. They give you good recommendations about which kind of food you should try if it’s your first visit here. Service was impressively efficient too, wait time for food is around 10 minutes for appetizers while for main courses, it’s around 20 minutes (average time for both)
The food we tried out were half-roasted chicken, sausage and chili pizza, 12-ounce ribeye steak, tiramisu, pistachio and white chocolate parfait, chocolate budino, cashew kale, and lastly the spaghetti pomodoro.
The chicken was so juicy and tender with the olives complimenting it very well. Outside skin was very crispy as well. The pizza wasn’t that spicy, but the flavor was very smooth, and I recommend adding olive oil on top of it. The steak basically melted in your mouth and the texture was like butter. For the spaghetti, the tomato sauce was heaven and the beef in it was so tender.
For the desserts, the tiramisu had that nice, smooth chocolate that made me feel like this is not real. With the pistachio and white chocolate parfait, the jam was sour to make the cake not overwhelmingly sweet and the chocolate again being smooth. Lastly, the chocolate budino had a layer of dark chocolate hidden underneath the regular chocolate and was not too sweet when most places add too much sugar in it.
These are the reasons why you should come here! Friendly service, gorgeous food, and the perfect spot to make this a much...
Read moreMy first visit to this "flagship" feeling location. Hostesses are warm and friendly. We were seated at a comfortable booth next to the significant bar that dominates the space. A smiling server came shortly and enquired after libations. I was given a taster of their Make Me Happy white. Bewilderingly, Irene (server) then disappeared for over twenty minutes. Not sure what happened. Irene reappeared when the rest of the party arrived. The rest of the dinner was pleasant. Strangely, only as the staff was clearing the remains of our substantial dinner did they ask if everything was to our liking. Ambient noise levels can be uncomfortably high so perhaps turning down the music would help alleviate it. The kitchen is solid and the time between first courses and pastas is minimum. Seasoning is also good with nothing overly salty. All pastas were deliciously al dente. Spaghetti Bolognese needs more time with the sauce. The servers are still getting acquainted with the large space. Hopefully, when the autumn winter season arrives, the wrinkles will...
Read moreVery disappointing experience
The host/manager at the front door—who should be the first warm point of contact—was unfortunately quite rude.
I took time out of my day to attend a soft opening (a standard industry practice where a new business is introduced to a limited audience before its official opening). I did a reservation had received a confirmation earlier that morning via Tock, yet when I arrived, a tall male—either a manager or host—refused to let me in, seemingly for personal reasons.
If your team isn’t prepared to manage a dry run properly, it raises serious questions about your readiness to open at all. Why accept reservations if you aren’t going to accommodate them?
As someone from the hospitality industry, I know how important first impressions are. That experience lacked even the most basic step of service, and certainly didn’t reflect what hospitality should be about.
Unfortunately, I won’t be recommending this place. My day was ruined, and I left feeling dismissed and...
