This is a fairly new Vietnamese restaurant opened in the Vancouver downtown core. At lunch break today I ordered Bun Bo Hue which is spicy beef noodle soup to take back to my office to eat at my desk. To my surprise when I opened the bag, both the noodles and the soup were packed, although separately as they should be, in 2 tiny plastic bowls. There was no way I could combine them together to eat. This was the very first time I encounter this situation. Many other places where I ordered food to take out would have the noodles packed in a bigger bowl and the soup would be in the smaller bowl so that the soup could be added to the noodle bowl later. Not only that I was given pho rice noodles and not vermicelli noodles! I was then told by one of the staff when I made the call to the reataurant that I could try by trasferring half of the noodles to half of the soup - she had no idea that both of the bowls were full to the rim and I was not given any extra bowl to even try to do that šŸ˜„. I ended up asking around to borrow a bigger soup bowl in order to eat my lunch. The soup was definitely not authentic and as tasty but was good enough for my convenience and cravings. I think it would be better if you eat in instead of takeout but I hope the owner would take this as a constructive feedback and would make changes to have how take-out orders should be packed for downtown workers who would eat at...

I got chicken over vermicelli where the chicken was heated from a cold state (was hot outside dead cold inside), their Chili Oil is old and sour which tasted like an over expired condiment, just tasted rank/spoiled (it's Chili Oil for heaven's sake, how old was it? Why would you have spoiled Chili Oil in a new restaurant?) The people working there are awesome, very attentive, the lady that worked the kitchen gave me the food surprisingly fast, I was really hungry but really couldn't stomach all of this after 2 bites, especially after mixing in the rank chili oil and just returned it with a smile saying sorry and that the chicken is cold the Chili Oil is spoiled for some reason and I lost my appetite, I didn't ask and they didn't offer any refund (that's OK), she didn't care :D, seemed pretty obvious she was only worried about the money. They just opened this place and it took a while to open, I was super excited to have Vietnamese food near my house, seriously asking, you just opened a new restaurant and this is what you serve? There are better Vietnamese food served around here and I'll just need to walk a bit further, but this place disappointed. I'll come back in 1 year to try again and I promise I'll...

If you want to be served by rude waitresses who will mislead you and ask you to leave, this place will be your choice. Served by two extremely rude waitresses. The female waitress saw we were not ready for order so she left without saying anything. I was expecting something like ā€œI’ll come back laterā€. That’s very rude! And the male waitress who spoke Chinese is even worse. He got our order wrong on purpose. We asked if we can have three pieces of spring rolls and he said yes but indeed he gave us three orders of spring rolls (6 pieces). I believe he did that on purpose so he could charge more. And when we politely (with smile) pointed out the order was wrong and he misled us, he argued with us and asked us to leave.

Edited: the owner replied below indicated he would provide refund but he never did, which also proves this is not a reliable restaurant. Also I forgot to mention they didn’t provide me with a detailed recipe showing what’s being charged and...

Pho Express on Thurlow is a delightful spot for Vietnamese cuisine in Vancouver. The restaurant is known for its quick service and affordable prices. The pho is particularly popular, with a rich and flavorful broth that keeps customers coming back. The menu also offers a variety of other Vietnamese dishes, including fresh spring rolls and banh mi sandwiches. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, making it a great place for a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner. The staff are friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. Overall, Pho Express on Thurlow is a solid choice for anyone craving authentic Vietnamese food in the heart of Vancouver.

This was my second visit here. My first experience was fine, so I decided to come back, but this time was a real disappointment. Right when I walked in, I almost slipped because the floor was so slippery. On my way out, I had to hold onto tables to keep from falling -.- There was only one other group already dining. I ordered two lemongrass dishes to-go and ended up waiting 25 minutes. To make it worse, a group of four who came in after me got their food first. The food itself barely had any vegetables, the chicken was bland, and the pork was way too tough and flavorless. The chef must have changed. I won’t be coming back again!
