It was my first time trying Filipino food recommended to me by a friend, and it did not disappoint.
Their pork sinigang had good flavor and was not super sour as I feared.
I can't quite remember the names of the other dishes I had, but the Kare Kare was on point. Tender beef with a rich peanut style curry sauce. Just thinking about it makes me hungry š
My favorite had to be the pork cooked in shrimp paste sauce. It was very tasty and went great with rice.
One small complaint I had is that for the pork cooked in the shrimp paste sauce, the pork was a little old tasting and texture wise too. It wasn't the softest or most succulent of meat compared to the other dishes I had here.
You get one free rice, and in retrospect when they asked do you want to add one more rice? Yes. Absolutely. The was a lot of leftover sauce which felt too good to be wasted.
Plato Filipino's turon was also tasty, with a crispy caramel topped wrapper with banana inside.
For 16.50, I cannot complain. You get 2 dishes and a free rice. It fills you up and there is free water as well.
The restaurant interior was a bit too hot for my comfort, so we sat on their outside patio tables.
The service was quick and friendly, I like my food served with a smile.
Overall, 4/5 stars. I would absolutely come...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI tried this place yesterday and was brought back to my childhood memories of my mother's cooking. Now, I am loyal to my mom's food but the one's on display yesterday comes very close to her cooking; as well as the pork belly that I had with the spicy mussels with coconut milk as side dish just hit the spot. I now know where to go in case i am pining for my late mom's cooking. I have to come back to try the other sumptuous looking dishes. My mouth is starting to water just thinking about this future visits. Homey atmosphere in the restaurant. The staffs are very friendly and makes you remember the "kabayan" camaraderie back home. Not for formal dining, but a very good choice for everyday home cooked filipino food. I have to try the turon that I saw yesterday. I wonder if they are as crunchy as the ones back home. Great job guys....I hope you prosper. You are giving a good service to your countrymen who are homesick for the real-tasting "lutong bahay" food. I appreciate your efforts in giving us the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhile stopping off for some bakery goodies from nearby Bao Bakery, I decided to pick up some lunch from Plato Filipino.
In reality, it was probably more like breakfast because I ordered their Tapsilog ($14). For those of you that donāt know, silog is a classic Filipino dish containing rice and a fried egg and they have a whole variety of silogs depending on the type of protein used. In this case, tapa, or marinated beef slices. Platoās version came with shanghai rolls and steamed rice that was topped with garlic.
I found that the lumpia here were quite tiny and werenāt the least bit crispy (they wound up being kind of soft and limp). Meanwhile, the marinated beef slices were a bit tough and similar to jerky in texture (this didnāt come as unexpected to me as Iāve heard of tapsilog being referred to as marinated beef jerky before at another restaurant). On the bright side, the fried egg had a bit of runny yolk when I poked into it. However, I was kinda disappointed overall with...
