Was pleasantly surprised when this opened up in my neighborhood. I would often get their bbtea specials at their Kingsway location, but this is closer to home now! Thought I'd try the bbq meats today for dinner, and ordered the 3 meats with rice dish to go. After waiting a few minutes, I was handed a bag with my food and off I went. But not before I read the menu board more closely and I believed this was a 'combo', where I should have gotten a drink? Anyways, came home and opened up my box of food. It was somewhat disappointing, as the portion of meats was quite small in my opinion (bbq pork 2 pieces, bbq duck 3 pieces, soya sauce chicken, a couple small pieces, and 2 strands of vegetables) For what I paid, $13, I can get a full dish with bigger portions at Congee Noodle King. Just thought there would be more meat, since on the sandwich board outside, they had bbq pork on rice for $5. Would that be like only 1 piece of bbq pork then? Taste wise, not bad. The above review was from 3 years ago Today, (Dec 14, 2022) as I was walking around the neighborhood, thought I'd pick up some bbq pork for dinner. Ordered 1lb of bbq pork at the counter. The lady (not the usual male owner) proceeded to weigh and charge me $15.20. I paid, but before I left, I took a 2nd look at the prices. It is $10.80/lb for BBQ PORK, and $14.00/lb for ROAST PORK. The scale was set to $14.00. So, I questioned her, asking her if this is bbq pork. She said yes, so I replied, it's $10.80/lb...there's no way that I should have been charged so much, even if it was slightly over a lb. She sheepishly said, 'oh, I forgot to change the scale!'. No wonder she was already offering a free plastic bag, and apologizing. Like, you're literally selling these cooked meats by weight all day, isn't the first you do is set the proper price on the scale before weighing anything?! Do not get 'scammed' or fall for this cheat! Even though the bbq pork tastes ok, I don't think I will be back, because I feel this is just dishonest. There is a new Chinese BBQ House that recently opened up on Kingsway, think I'll go...
Read moreAnother good spot for the Hk rice plate. Very reasonable prices. The Roast Pork, BBQ Pork, Roast Duck have to say its meaty and, flavourful, tasty. Once again, ( back again ) Aug. 28 2024 2x in 1 month for this tasty diner bar. Once again, could not resist on the 2 meat platter rice plate. It was still good deal, plumped, juicy tender bbq pork, and crispy roast pork with large portions of steamed white rice with few gai lan on the side. Its good esp this time i had quite amount of sauces with the meat on the rice. Its much tastier and easier to consume with no sauces. Brings out more flavour on the white steamed rice. Also for note : which i confirmed the the Hainanese Chicken with Rice ( is just steamed white rice, not the chicken oil rice as suppose to be ). Will try the chicken next time. Once again, looking for to be back for the stir fry dishes, noodles etc. ( 2 meat with noodle ) next time visit. Highly recommend this place. Alot of regular city crews dropping in for a lunch meals or beer from tap cold beer. Good to support local small businesses to help them and also help ourselves in these indulging delicious...
Read moreWe're frequents at the bbt cafe so happy to support their BBQ bar. It wasn't what I expected though. They described themselves as HK style cafe so I thought the menu would have more variety (western section, or noodles/pasta, etc) but it's really Chinese bbq meat like what you would get at New Sam Po Meat, Great Two Supermarket, or Yu Ki BBQ. Giving them 4 stars because the way they store their meats and chopping station looks sooo much cleaner compared to those other places (although it could be because it's new - hope they can keep it that way 🤞) and with their hours, it's easier to pick up if there's a late night craving. Docking off a star because I ordered Hianese chicken and it wasn't. It's just regular free range chicken (it was still good though). They need to correct that on their menu (along with some...
