I think this was my first time trying really authentic Filipino food and I really enjoyed it. The prices were higher than I expected given that everything is served cafeteria style (premade and scooped out from under the warmer), but the portions were honestly about twice as big as I was expecting, so it evened out to be a good value meal. I got the 2 item combo and a halo halo and couldn't quite finish either, so next time I would just get the 1 item combo and a smaller baked good for dessert. I got the laing and ginisang munggo in my combo. Both were very good and pleasantly different from anything I've tried before, but the laing was definitely my favourite. I loved the frag coconut milk with taro leaves. The laing was a tad on the oily side for me, but the ginisang munggo was fine on that front. These are considered "vegetable" dishes so the shrimp are more of an accent than the main feature, but they were cooked well and between the two dishes there was more than enough for me to feel like I got a fair serving of protein. Especially for "cafeteria" food, this was excellent. They have two types of halo halo but I can't remember what the one I got was called - it had mango ice cream, ube paste, flan, and jellies. I thought the shaved ice part of the halo halo was just a little coarse, but otherwise this was great. All the other individual components were delicious - the ice cream in particular had a nice bright flavour and the ube paste was strong. The staff were pretty nice. I took a table that a group before me had just left and someone came out and wiped it down for me even though it wasn’t visibly dirty. The place is pretty small, so not a lot of seating and the space is a little tight. Would be nice to see compostable plates because as is there’s a ton of plastic at play. Good place though; I take it as a good sign that there were a lot of Filipino customers

As a Kapampangan, I had high hopes for this place after hearing about their exceptional sisig, so my partner and I drove an hour to try it out. While the sisig lived up to its reputation, the experience was marred by an incredibly rude employee. We arrived tired and hungry, hoping for a pleasant meal. However, one of the food servers spoke to me in a condescending tone, which was humiliating and embarrassing. She even raised her voice at me as if she were talking to a child. When I asked for soy sauce, lemon, and red chili for my dish, she only brought two out of the three items. When I politely pointed this out, she ignored me and moved on to the next customer. It was frustrating because I tried to get her attention multiple times, but she acted as if I was not there, with everyone in the restaurant looking at me. It was disappointing to be treated this way, especially after making the effort to visit based on recommendations. Despite the good food, the disrespectful service overshadowed our experience. ————— UPDATE: Thank you for responding to my review. Based on my experience and reviews from other customers, it seems there is a need for further training in customer relations and social media management. Multiple customers, including myself, have experienced rude service. Ensuring all staff provide courteous and attentive service, and addressing concerns directly and empathetically, would greatly improve the overall experience. I hope my feedback helps contribute to positive changes.

I have been coming to this location for almost a decade now. Probably longer, can’t remember anymore. lol. My family is from Dagupan, north of Pampanga and it’s the absolute closest to my mom’s and family’s cooking and we all know how good mom’s cooking is. Whenever I have the opportunity to come by for lunch or dinner, I make my way out here. Solo or bringing friends that want to try Filipino food, doesn’t matter; we come here. Their Sinigang is almost sour enough but I like it very sour. Kare Kare is full of meat and vegetables. Adobo is very tasty. I’m a fan of their Pancit Luglóg and Caldereta as well. The usual suspects. I don’t need to explain about the Sisig, it’s what they’re known for. I do wish that their Lumpia Gulay was more readily available though. The only thing I would consistently warn others about is that their seating is limited. During their lunch and dinner rushes, they have a large crowd coming and going so finding seating isn’t always possible. During the spring and summer they do add outdoor seating but that still quickly fills up. Just a warning again on that. I’ll usually come during non-peak hours if I can help it. They carry the usual selection of sweets, Turon is at the top of my list. Summer halo halo is a must.

Rude and Dishonest Cashier -JOYCE Branch

I had an encounter with the cashier Feb22, 6:30pm. I was in the lineup and a nice staff member served me what I ordered (laing, pinakbet, turon and buko pandan dessert). When I was at the cashier, I noticed there was an extra container in my order so I asked the cashier what that was. She did not answer me but instead she set pushed the container aside and told the other staff that the customer (me) did not know what it was and that she said it was "nothing".

ME: Ano yan? .. "What is that?"(pointing to the extra container) CASHIER (looking at the staff) : Ano daw yan, sabi ko wala. " She is asking what that is, I said that it was nothing). Itabi mo na. "Set it aside". At that point she put away the extra container and did not answer my question. Did she not realize that I was just in front of her and I could hear what she was telling her co-worker?

I felt that something was off. I told the cashier that you have to be honest to your customers. I was asking what that was because I did not really know what the extra item was since I do not often buy from Pampanga's Cuisine. At that point, the nice staff who took my order heard that I was not happy , and I overheard her voice saying "Oh! That is Free RICE" (Free rice yan dahil nag order kayo ng 2 ulam).

So I got back at the rude cashier and told her that if a customer is asking you, you should answer them truthfully. Give the customer the correct information! But she never gave me the item because it was already out of sight and it was too embarassing for her to bring it back out. She wanted to one up a customer since the customer did not know anything about a promo? This is a shame and is a cheap trick. I left the store with her telling me that she has many other customers to serve!

When I got home, I called the restaurant to ask for the manager in charge but the person was not there so I asked if the person on the phone was the one who served me at the cashier tonight. I recounted my story and she said it was her and her name is Delia. I told Delia that I was disappointed at the incident, and then she accused me that I told her that I did not want that "free rice" ....which is funny and unbelievable!! Delia said that she did not have time to talk to me and just talk to Edith and accused me of harrassing her! She also told me that next time I come back she will give me double free rice! No Thank You! And then she banged the phone on me!

I am NOT interested in your free stuff but please communicate well with your customers. Improve your lousy servcie. Train your staff and cashiers on how to treat customers...

Pampangas cuisine Restaurant does not respect their customers at all! My friend and I went there one afternoon to have a snack. I asked how much a small cup of a dish is and when she said $6.50, I just said , oh the cost it’s higher now. I noticed the server behind the counter whispered to another and said that all the prices are higher now. There was a sign of irritation in her because of my inquiry. My friend ordered a few dishes to take home. When we sent down to eat our rice and a couple of dishes, my friend noticed her tablespoon is dirty with dried food in it. She placed the spoon aside and when I started eating, I smelt my spoon was also dirty and smelt awful like it was used in a fish with fish and never washed after. I brought the spoons to the woman at the back to complain but she denied what I was showing her as untrue. I made her see it and smell it but she got so angry and said many untrue accusations that I can’t believe the other servers and a male cook have made stories against me like I was complaining about the prices and they are barraging me all together. I got so mad with their attitude so o have to say to the woman to stop or I will report you. She suddenly stopped and my friend talked to her that she was arguing with me for nothing that I said or do. My friend was offended too specially when this woman told us that we should not come back to their little carinderia ever again. That was a big display of rudeness, gossiping among these Filipinos who have not been trained properly on what their job entails. The health department should investigate their cleanliness situation, and they should close this one just like they do to other non compliant restaurants. I have to take up the challenge they provoked us and will never eat there again. That way we will avoid all the fatty dishes they serve that can cause serious cholesterol illnesses among the clients. We will not eat there ever again and hopefully other Filipinos will choose better places because there are more choices of Asian restaurants with better customer services and more reasonable prices. Letting you know that this restaurant has not adapted to the Canadian standards in their service, manners , and undeniable mentality of the bakya...

Food was okay but service with an attitude is always terrible. Do you think being 2 feet across is far enough for me to not hear the rude tagalog comments from the servers? Your combo clearly promotes a free soup but you make your customers ask and then pay more for the container that has the baboy (pork) sinigang soup with no pork hence your sarcastic comment earlier mentioned. This is why you didn’t get a tip at the til. If these were middle fingers instead of stars you’d get 5!! SALAMAT PO

April 17 Update Response to Manager: Response from the owner a week ago Hello po,

Sorry to hear with what happened with your last visit… but the city of Vancouver requires us to charge for single use plastic cups/cutleries/containers po!

Also, rest assured are staffs are re-trained to be more polite and give better customer service po!

Recently, the city of Vancouver changed its policy again and now we don’t have to charge for these…

Hopefully, you can visit and try our restaurant again po!

💛-pc fam

Dear Manager

you sound like you got all the answers but no solutions.

I forgot about this review because it's been awhile but your recent late reply encouraged one more response.

Let me be clear, I DID NOT CARE ABOUT THE KNOWN CONTAINER FEE, YOUR STAFF SUCKS AT CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I get feedback from friends and fam questioning and wondering why I did my review of your restaurant the way I did. I'm here wondering what I did to get such bad irritated and annoyed customer service from you in the first place?

Read my original review again and then once more so it is clear. Your front staff were rude to a paying customer for a free soup that your business promotes. Maybe they need to be trained on what you sell so they keep the attitude in the kitchen and out of view from clients and paying patrons.

Which is sad because Filipino culture is usually known for being warm, welcoming and wanting to accommodate people, just see my other reviews of local business and local Filipino businesses and what they...
