My cousin and I went here for dinner. Service was very slow. The servers were trying their best to attend to everyone. There was only 2 servers. I have been here several years ago food was good. My cousin ordered the rack of lamb (racks to be sliced). It came loaded with gravy so much so that the rice was soggy. We did not say anything until our server asked how our food was. We just asked why the rack was swimming in so much gravy and over powered with rosemary? He stated he was not sure why ( the presentation was very unappealing). Will try to post picture. While we carried on with our dinner and our conversation a lady stopped at our table and said " what is the problem"? She said that she was the manager. We explained that there was no problem but when our server asked about our meal we told him about the gravy. we often order lamb when we are out and both of us cook lamb quite a bit at home but the gravy was very strong and so much of it. She said that it is chicken and lemon gravy with rosemary and it is very tasty. We have never had that much gravy on a rack of lamb. Needless to say my cousin did not finish her meal. Shortly after we got home she was puking! Felt bad for her as she was visiting from out of town and was not well the next day. Will not come back here again . Restaurant very tired looking. Felt bad for the staff as they were running from table to table

Ordered via ubereats. I’ve tried numerous Greek restaurants around Vancouver but decided to try something different, going for Takis. Total disappointment… the portions are half the size of every other Greek restaurant in town and I first wanted to think it was quality over quantity, but that was not the case. The standard meals had a third of a potato and 2 small pieces of carrot, a small scoop of Greek salad, and a few spoonfuls of bland rice. The chicken wrap was the size of a fast food snack wrap. Moussaka was the size of a couple stacked Nanaimo bars (again, half the portion of every other place). The most disappointing thing was the avgolemono… whatever I got was not it. It looked nothing like the pictures from some other reviews. It was a crude beigey liquid and had no taste of lemon or chicken… rather, it smelled strongly of liver or some other mystery meat… or old chicken? It was quite off-putting and I didn’t bother finishing it after a couple spoons. The portion was tiny as well but I guess that’s fine as it wasn’t really edible. Hoping I don’t get sick because I have no idea what I ate. Despite the portions, the wrap was fine and saganaki too, but nothing outstanding. This was just the most below mediocre Greek food I’ve tried in town and way too expensive. Waste of money when there are a ton of other great Greek places.

I recently visited Takis Taverna in Vancouver, and it was an exceptional experience! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The interior is beautifully done, creating a great vibe that's perfect for a relaxing meal. I tried several dishes, including the dips with pita, spanakopita, and the vegetarian moussaka. Each dish was absolutely delicious, with generous portions that left me fully satisfied. The flavors were authentic and perfectly balanced, making every bite a delight. The owners and staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience. They made me feel right at home, which is something you don't find in every restaurant. If you're looking for a place with great food, a welcoming ambiance, and top-notch service, I highly recommend Takis Taverna. I can't wait to visit again!

It was my boyfriend and I's first time ordering food from Takis Taverna. We did our research beforehand and saw that the restaurant had great reviews which made us very excited. But we waited 2.5 hours for food that never came.

8:23pm: I called and placed an order over the phone with a man who was very kind. I asked him how long it would take for the food to be delivered to Olympic Village and he said around 45 to 50 minutes. He even helped me decide on which was the most popular lamb entree. I told him my name, address, and phone number.

9:53pm: Our food still has not arrived so I called the restaurant back. A woman answered the phone this time. I said "Hi I placed a delivery order earlier and was wanting to inquire on how much longer it would be". The woman immediately said "The food is already on it's way and shouldn't be much longer". I said "Okay thanks" and we hung up on the phone. My boyfriend asked me why the staff member did not ask for my phone number or name and how did she know which order I was talking about. I told him I'm not sure but she seemed like she knew what she was talking about. I trusted her.

10:14pm: Food still has not arrived so this time my boyfriend was the one who called the restaurant back. The same woman answered the phone and we told her that the food we had ordered 2 hours ago was still not here. She said "The owner is the one delivering the food and it should have been there by now. I will call the owner to see what is going on and I will get her to call you back". So we said "Okay thanks". We then sat and waited, expecting for a phone call from the owner within a reasonable time.

10:41pm: So still no food and absolutely no phone call as the woman had promised. So my boyfriend calls back again and this time a male staff member answers the phone to tell us that THE RESTAURANT IS NOW CLOSED. Can you believe it!? He was very nice and explained that he was just the dishwasher and had absolutely no idea of what had happened. He was at least helpful and told us that he would get in touch with the owners right away after we explained that we had been waiting for our food for almost 2.5 hours now.

10:47pm: The owner of the restaurant has now called us and shockingly order was never processed. He asked us which staff members we had spoken to earlier but we did not know their names. He was very apologetic and offered us a free meal the next time that we ordered from them. A nice gesture that we will take on another day when the restaurant is open. But we have several issues here:

#1. It is now almost 11pm and most restaurants are closed while we have absolutely nothing to eat.

#2. The first male staff member who took our order: what did he do with it?

#3. Now this is what I have the most issue with: the second female staff member who we spoke to twice. She blatantly lied to us by telling us that she would call the owner and get them to call us back. Do not tell your customers that you are going to do something and then not do it. If we had known at the time that she was a liar we would not have spent another 30 minutes of our time waiting for food that would never show up or for a phone call that would never happen. We could have gotten a home of the owners ourselves. She not only disrespected us the customers but she should know that her actions represent the company that she works for. Shame on her! If only I had gotten her name!

My boyfriend is a business owner himself and so we fully understand the difficulty of monitoring everything that goes on in your business. Plus, the owners of the restaurant seemed very apologetic and understanding. The actions of their staff members were not their fault. However, we hope that they speak to their staff to prevent a situation like this from happening a second time. In particular to the female staff member who lied to us, clearly knew the restaurant was closing soon, and then went home.

Note that this is just a temporary review of the restaurant and it will be updated accordingly once we take the owners up on...
