Great Clips — Local services in Vancouver

Awful. Awful. Awful.

My Mom recommended Great Clips because of their cheap prices and said they do good haircuts. I went into the store and everything looked clean, modern, and some of the other clients were walking out with nice, clean cuts. So, I checked in. The counter was filled with Combs, scissors, hair dryers... Every tool a stylist would need. She asked what kind of cut I wanted and I showed her a picture, then told her I usually go short on the side and the comb the top to the side. I dont think she understood what I was trying to say.

She took a razor to the side, a razor to the top, then cleaned up a bit and said I was done. She must've tooked a good three inches off the top, almost leaving me with a crew cut which was absolutely not what I wanted.

I'll be going some place where stylists are certified, well-trained and recognize what the customer wants because this clearly didn't happen. I was going to go home after to take some portrait shots for my Acting portfolio but now I have to wait two to three weeks to let my hair regrow because what I asked for was clearly not what was received.

Mom suggested going back and getting them to clean it up, but after butchering it so badly on the first round, I didn't want to run the risk of having to shave everything off.

I really love Great Clips on Davie Street in the West End, Vancouver. For the past few years, I regularly see a highly trained hairdresser, her name is Nahid. Nahid is not only an excellent hairdresser, she is also a wonderful and friendly, kind person. Nahid is a professional with a lovely personality, always welcoming and encouraging. And she cuts my hair perfectly. I have hair that is thick, curly and grey. I don't colour my hair, I prefer to honour my natural colour and Nahid gives me a beautiful haircut every time consistently. Also she doesn't try to get rid of my natural hair quality by thinning my hair like other hairdressers have done in the past-- she loves my thick curly grey hair which she cuts patiently with scissors and does not try to thin my hair with a razor. I have never had a better haircut in my life. Every single time, my haircut is perfect. I am happy!...

I recently went to Great Clips for a haircut and had the pleasure of getting my cut done by Elena. I used their app to check in ahead of time—it’s super convenient because you can see the estimated wait time and plan accordingly.

To be honest, I was a bit unsure at first because Elena seemed to be from a different generation, and I wasn’t sure if she’d get the modern style I was going for. But I couldn’t have been more wrong. She surprised me with her dexterity and skill. The haircut was quick, the fades were subtle and clean, and she did exactly what I asked for.

The entire experience, from the warm reception at the front desk to the quality of the cut, was excellent—and all for just $26. Of course, I made sure to leave a well-deserved tip.

I’ll definitely be coming back here again, and specifically to Elena. I highly recommend supporting this...
