I placed a pick up order today and was quite disappointed. I arrived to pick up the order and waited several minutes before approaching one of the two ladies who were working there. I told her I had placed a pick up order. She then looked past me and acknowldged two ladies who had come in behind me and the three of them engaged in a converation about which wine they may be choosing for lunch and carried on while I continued to wait without any acknowledgment as to my order.

The ladies behind me may have lacked the manners and courtesy to realize that someone was ahead of them, waiting for service, but the server's have no excuse for such rudeness. They should have acknowledged that I was there first, was waiting for my order and that they would take THEIR order after giving me my food and processing my payment.

This was my first time visiting this place and I was left with quite a poor impression. Some advice: we are spoiled for choices in how many amazing food options there are in the lower mainland. So, please consider that when someone is giving you their time and money. It was out of my way to go there, but I made the effort because of the great reviews. To be basically ignored, when I was there first, was very disrespectful. On the server's part and also on the part of the ladies who came in after me.

The chicken souvlaki I ordered was average, the chicken was not very tender and the rice, potatoes were rather unflavourful.

When I called to place my pick up order, a man answered and said "Hi" I had to ask if it was the Hideout Diner I had reached. I would suggest identifying your business name when answering the phone, its a little more...

This place is terrible since new management took over. I work for a business nearby with limited eating options, and have had a number of bad experiences. Most recent, I went there for lunch and ordered a sandwich, fries, and a side of mayo. After waiting in a long line and paying for my food, they brought me out my food and I noticed there was no mayo. When I politely asked about it I was advised there was no mayo on my receipt and I was not going to get any. I told them I ordered it with my food and got a “too bad, so sad” reaction. A moment later the server who took my order handed me the mayo and said I could go, so I walked out. Halfway down the block I heard the kitchen staff call me out of the door and when I turned around they said “sorry, the owner wants you to come back and pay for the mayo”, so I went back (feeling very irritated) and paid the SEVENTY NINE cents I owed them (I put more than that in their tip jar).

I’ve worked in customer service for a long time, and have never heard of being called back in after leaving an establishment, in front of many other customers, to pay for a CONDIMENT that they forgot to add to my bill. It was their mistake in the first place!! Me and my colleagues have been going there for a long time, and I have never complained when they F-ed up my orders. Terrible customer service. I will definitely never go back and discourage anyone from getting food from these people.

By the way, the mayo was the best part of my...

im beyond disappointed in this place, they have recently changed owners, the previous owners and cook weren't the best but atlease they weren't out to rip you off, we work at a local dealer ship close by and have been coming here for awhile, now with new owners and cooks..... i gave them 2 chances, the first time i ordered chicken souvlaki, for 11.25 before tax, they gave 40% less portion size of the food compared to the previous owners and cooks, and the chicken wasn't even cooked, the second time i ordered again, and had explained to them on the phone that i was not happy with the last portion amount for my food, and i ordered chicken souvlaki again and guess what .... they handed me containers the size they give out at the soup kitchen line up or crisis food line..... small size compact portions .... for 11.25? i could have gone to XSITE bar and grill on hastings and ordered the same exact meal with ENORMOUS amounts of food for a cheaper price, and im suppose to support la fourchette ? below average food with rip off prices and rip off portions, no thank you im done with this place, and so are my 40 plus number...

Fabulous! First of all, this cozy little eaterie is tucked away behind the Home Depot. You don't expect to see anything, but it's there. First impression: friendly lovely staff from Sri Lanka. Their menu is mouth-watering. We were there for lunch. I ordered eggs Benny with crab and spinach. Yum! It was hot and lots of fluffy spinach with real crab, hash brown and fresh fruit. I was really impressed. My friend was going to have chicken and waffles but decided on the butter chicken. Excellent choice. Loaded with tender chunks of chicken with delicious sauce, basmati rice and naan. There was enough for two to share easily. In fact I ordered butter chicken takeout for dinner also! Their prices are decent with great value given the size of our meals. They also have a separate coffee menu. Parking is free and ample. If you're into finding a treasure in East Van, this is the spot. What makes it even more fun is that on the weekends you have to buzz to open the electronic gate. It was easy and added to the mystique. I will definitely go back.

My wife and I have been here twice now for breakfast. Most recent visit was about 3 weeks ago. Our first visit to the hideout for breakfast was a great experience. I kid you not I literally thought about how delicious their waffles were for about a week. Honestly it was the best waffle I ever had. For our second breakfast visit I was really hoping we would have the same cook and when I asked our waitress she confirmed indeed it's the same cook and he's been their for 6 years. Again the waffles were delicious! Homemade, moist and fluffy. The cook really knows what he's doing and I think he's mastered the perfect waffle. I ordered the hungry man breakfast both times. It's a huge plate of food and the waffle is included in the order. I'll tell ya they don't cheap out on the portions at all. It's a big plate of food. I will absolutely return again. Attached is a picture of my breakfast plate. (I did take a few bites of my eggs before the picture haha) Derrick Pitt meadows

The Hideout is really hidden. It's tucked into the side of an interesting office building just south of Home Depot off of Terminal Avenue. The food was delicious and the woman who served us was a sweetheart. Prices were very reasonable. It definitely isn't a fancy place but it was very comfortable and was decorated with some lovely photos. I had the smoked salmon eggs benedict and my friend had the halibut and fries. The fries were excellent! The eggs were cooked to perfection and seemed to be larger than any other restaurant I've eaten at. Their homemade hollandaise sauce was wonderful too. We were told that they are open on weekends as well but the access to the parking area is blocked by a gate. You would have to park in the Home Depot lot closest to the cafe and then walk through a small gate in the fence to get to the diner. I will definitely be returning.
