I wanted to take my girlfriend out for a nice valentines day dinner. I had made a reservation the day before however upon arriving they told us the indoor area was all booked so we were told to sit in the patio. This made no sense because we made an indoor rservation and there were also plenty of free tables at the time of arrival. How come we were forced to sit outside and everyone after us who also made a reservation got a nice table indoors. Not to mention we were the ONLY people of color at the restaurant and the only ppl sitting on the patio throughout our time there... coincidence by any chance? So at the beginning of the night we agreed to sit at the patio because its downtown van and we know everywhere else would be booked and we thought the patio wouldnt be that bad. But this patio area is a joke. A flimsy plastic sheet is all that separated you from the outside. Cold air was coming in from all the huge gaps and our feet were frozen. The ceiling heater had one setting, which did nothing to make the situation better with all the cold air coming in. I did not expect it to be such an uncomfortable experience.

By far the worst part of the situation is how we were treated. The guy working there had such a rude attitude towards us,you would have thought he'd be nicer and try to mitigate this situation but was still rude.We were told they were busy and nothing could be done. But there was a table free inside the whole time we were there, which was approximately 1hr15mins. When we arrived that table was empty. When we left that table was still empty. No effort was made by the waiter there to move us inside despite us telling him how uncomfortable we were. Even if that table was reserved for later in the day, he could have told us that we would have to leave by a certain time. We would have been ok with that. But we had to eat in the insufferable cold of the patio while a table inside sat empty the whole time.

Bottom line. Food was good but their patio area is a shameless money grab during winter times. There is nothing about that patio appropriate for paying customers and clearly they do not honour their reservation policy. Overall it was a very insulting and...

I went to The Italians with my partner for Valentine's Day. When I made the reservation online it stated a 90-minute time limit, which was fine with us.

Upon our arrival we were seated RIGHT beside another couple despite the restaurant being a little less than half full, and our seats were directly facing them so it was kind of uncomfortable trying to avoid awkward eye contact the entire time. The server immediately told us we needed to leave within 90 minutes to allow for our table to be given to another couple. It felt a bit pushy but okay, no problem, we told him we understood.

We ordered a bottle of wine and appetizers but were again told by the server when the appetizers arrived that we needed to decide on our main dishes quickly. I asked if we could have a few minutes to eat our appetizers first, and he said something to the effect of "time's ticking!" then gave me a look as if I had just majorly inconvenienced him. This was about… 20 minutes into our 90-minute time frame? The appetizers were delicious by the way, we ordered the Bruschetta, Olives and Burrata.

After more reminders about our time remaining, we scarfed down our main dishes quickly because by this point we just felt awkward being there. The pasta was good but a little bit too salty - we got the Tagliatelle al Tartufo and the Spaghetti alla Carbonara. I then asked if it would be helpful for us to move to another table to enjoy some dessert and more wine (keep in mind the restaurant is still about half full) so our specific table could be given to the next couple. Our server then told us the next couple was no longer coming, so we could take our time and relax! We should be so grateful!!!

We did stay and enjoy the TERRIFIC Tiramisu for dessert, but overall the experience left me feeling like we were unwanted here. It was meant to be a nice dinner, not like we were being ushered through the line at Subway. As an aside, they only have one restroom and there was a girl loudly puking inside for quite some time. This wasn’t the BEST ambiance to hear throughout dinner, although that's no fault of the...

SUPERB! This little gem of a restuarant captures the ambience and taste of Italy's finiest cuisine. The food is incredibly delicious (the best Italian cuisine I've ever tasted) AND service is impeccable! I was in over the weekend with a freind. She is Italian and a connoisseur of fine Itialian dining. She is still talking about the amazing the experience. We were blown away by the high attention the server paid to us and all the other tables. He was both professional and a very knowledgable sommelier. The wine pared perfectly! Let me tell you more about our experience. The way they had the patio set up made the experience feel so magical. We also felt very safe because of how much thought they put into following Covid protocols with their plexi glass dividers and masking. When a diner tried to use the washroom without a mask, the server acted swiftly to resolve the situation. He frequently scanned the restuarant to ensure the rules were being followed. Also, everything was clean and well thought out. We both felt very safe there. I must say more about the food! Exquisite! The food is beyond the best! I had the linguine alle vongole and my friend had the rigatoni arrabbiata. They hand make their pasta and buy local, fresh shellfish. The server took the time to explain this to us in detail but there was no need...we could tell! YUM. Also, I don't even like tiramisu' but their tiramisu' is to die for!!! Melts in your mouth! What an incredible dining experience! The Italians has earned accolades for their food, service, and health and safety measures. A...

The “Italian” Antipasti for $22 was a disappointment. There were no Italian ingredients, but a rather low quality platter of cheap cheeses and meats: some rubbery havarti jalapeño cheese (the one you can get from larger superstores for cheap) and what appeared to be some kind of Kraft cheese, the prosciutto was fine but the other meats were cheap pepperoni instead of real salami. The prawn pasta didn’t contain any prawns but rather shrimp, and it was supposed to have chili flakes in the sauce but clearly didn’t. I’m just assuming the chef forgot because the pasta sauce tasted like milk with parley swimming around in it - there were no flavors. When I asked about the missing chili, I was told the chef only put “a little in there” but chili flakes in a pasta sauce shows up pretty obviously (as little red flakes) and I would have tasted it (I don’t even eat overly spicy food so I will notice even if just a hint of spice). My partner liked his truffle mushroom ravioli (it was a special on the menu). I tasted a few bites from it, and agree it was tasty. We both felt sick (nausea) later that same evening and the following day, my spouse more than me. We suspected it would have been food poisoning. It’s unfortunate because the location is great, place is really cozy and our waiter was excellent. Also, the spaghetti in my dish was delicious, it’s made in-house and cooked to perfection (Al dente). If only the sauce would have been on the same level. 1 star for the excellent waiter, and 1 star for the homemade pasta. Since we got sick we likely won’t be back anytime soon.

My fiancè and I took our first west coast trip and decided on a night of Italian. We were looking for a place away from the stadium since there was a game that day and we knew it'd be difficult to get a seat in one of those restaurants. I ended up finding this cute Italian place in Davie village and read they make fresh pasta daily. The vibe looked VERY authentic, as if straight from Italy. I was absolutely right and glad we decided on this place. We both ended up bonding with the owner Danilo over our similar backgrounds - I'm Italian and my fiancè being Maltese. He shared with us his story and where he's from, how he started and I'm just so glad he remained successful with this Covid pandemic. His restaurant and vibe and food will allow you to experience an authentic Italian restaurant straight from Italy. He truly wants you to experience an authentic Italian food and restaurant. Nothing is "Americanized". We had to order the antipasti and it was amazing! I ordered the gnocchi and my fiance ordered the prawn pasta. Everything was amazing. We of course had to finish with tiramisu which is the best and most authentic tiramisu I've had. To top it all off, if you've been to Italy, you know the meal is finished with a shot of limoncello. I'm so glad we met you Danilo and we hope to meet you again - in Vancouver or Toronto at Giro d'Italia!

I came with a friend to this delicatessen place on Bute St in order to try a bit of Italy. Firs, Danilo (the server) recommended me to start with a Espresso Martini as it was a warm day and loved it! The cocktail has a shot o Vodka, Espresso coffee and Baileys. Very well balanced as it doesn't feel sweet. Second, we order the "Gnocchi al pesto", "Pappardelle con Funghi e Salsiccia" and "Polpette al Sugo". Once we're served, every bite made us taste the flavors of Italy. Portions are quite generous so gladly I got my friend helping me as we didn't want to miss the dessert. Third, the housemade "Tiramissu" was the cherry on top of our experience. The cream is not heavy nor sweet, just perfect. The "cake" inside is just the right portion to match the Créme and the Cocoa powder on top tastes organic. Last, and as we're having such a good time, Danilo just showed up with a shot of Amareto (for my friend) and a shot of Limoncello for me. We're so enchanted for the nice touch. Just when you think everything went awesome and ready to get the bill, a digestive was suitable part of the closing. Overall, very pleased with my experience at THE ITALIANS. The customer service is remarkable (shout out to Danilo) and If you go, please try the Tiramisu and the Espresso Martini with the pasta of your preference. You'll be delighted.
