We hadn’t been out for brunch in a while, and finding a spot in Yaletown that serves brunch every day was a challenge. That’s why Wren Cafe immediately caught our attention! Their menu has a unique variety, from open sandwiches and pasta to flatbreads.
✨ What We Tried: ✨ ❥ Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon and Prosciutto 必食😋 ❥ Creamy Mushroom Fettuccine with Chicken ❥ Open Sandwich Trio (we picked Salmon Rillette, Prosciutto Pear, and Pulled Pork Coleslaw) 好味👍 ❥ Blueberry Cheesecake ❥ The Raspberry (a dessert) ❥ Latte ❥ Blueberry Soda ❥ Sea Salt Pineapple Soda
Every dish was a hit, but if we had to choose favourites, it would be the Eggs Benedict and the Open Sandwich Trio.
The Eggs Benedict were absolutely perfect — soft, poached eggs paired with both smoked salmon and prosciutto. Every bite was satisfying and so flavorful.
The Open Sandwich Trio stole the show with its elegant presentation on a marble stone. Our picks — Pulled Pork Coleslaw, Egg Salad with Semi-Dried Tomatoes, and Smoked Salmon with Cucumber Ribbons — were all simple yet incredibly delicious.
The service was just as impressive as the food. The experience felt upscale, like dining in a restaurant, even though it’s a cozy cafe.
Amazing food, warm service, and an unbeatable vibe. We highly recommend Wren Cafe to anyone in Yaletown looking for a brunch spot! 🌟

Read moreI called ahead to place a pickup order for the Francophone Franchini and specifically asked for no cheese due to an allergy. I was told it would be ready in about 10 minutes. When I arrived 15 minutes later, I found out the kitchen hadn't even started making it yet — they only began after I showed up and reminded them about the order.
I reconfirmed with the staff that my Franchini had no cheese, and they said yes while I'm making the payment in store. But when they finally handed the food to me a few minutes later, I noticed a thick white sauce. I asked again to confirm, and only then did the staff explain that while there’s no cheese on top, the sauce itself contains cheese because it’s pre-made.
This was frustrating. For someone with an allergy, no cheese should mean no cheese at all, not just no visible cheese on top. By then I had already paid and didn’t want to argue or wait further.
According to my friend (yes, I had to give it out lol) The pasta itself was okay — not bad, but not amazing. The noodles were fine, but the sauce lacked richness and depth. For $18, we have a higher expectation.
However, their desserts were fantastic. We tried two: peach and Pina Colada dessert — both were beautifully presented, well-balanced, and full of flavor.
Hope they improve their order handling and ingredient...
Read moreLots of reviews about the Lemon shaped cake in this store. I had high expectation prior to today’s visit.
The lemon shaped cake: outer layer was made of white chocolate, the inner lemon filling was not sweet and contains a good balance of sweet and tart favour. The cake itself is tiny, price was $11.75. I don’t think the qualify of cake matches the price.
Ice latte, can’t taste caffeine. Very bland. I can make better ice latte at home.
The creativity ( shape of the lemon) is a bonus. In my opinion, what stood out the most “ would I come back and order the same cake”.
There were only few pastry shops , especially cake shops that maintain consistent high quality of pastry in past 25 years. Thomas Haas is one of the best cake shops in Vancouver. IMO.
I think as young pastry chefs/ business owner, thinking outside of box is a key, but most importantly “ is this a solid 5 star qualify cake”. There is definitely room for improvement. I didn’t order other cakes as one cake can tell a lot about a chef’s skill, experience, etc.
Would I come back ? Probably not. Given the price, I could have ordered 2 pieces of top qualify cakes at Thomas haas.
If the owners are reading my review, I suggest you guys pay a visit to Thomas Haas and what makes his cake shops best cake in Vancouver over...
