As tourists from Ottawa visiting beautiful Vancouver, my partner and I decided to go to H-Mart for some munchies a week ago. Upon exiting however, we walked by a series of food stalls, at which Zac-Zac was located (at the end). Ever since I saw this place, I had been begging my partner to come try this place out. It looked so delicious. Every time he asked where we wanted to dine at, I always mentioned this place. Today, I finally dragged him to Zac-Zac Japanese Curry House to actualize my desire. You know when you hype a restaurant so much that when you try it out, it doesn't meet your expectations? This place was the total opposite. I hyped it so hard and it exceeded my partner and I's expectations!!
A really lovely and polite lady greeted us and took our orders. We both ordered the deluxe curry meal, which came with tonkatsu, ebi katsu, and korokke. We both added cheese to the curry too (which was the best idea).
The tonkatsu (a deep fried pork cutlet coated with panko bread crumbs), was extremely delicious and crispy! It was not oily at all, and had a really clean taste. The ebi katsu (deep fried shrimp piece coated in panko) was crispy and fried to perfection as well. The korokke (a deep fried mashed potato and onion cutlet coated with panko crumbs) was really creamy inside, and crunchy on the outside. The curry was very delicious, and was slightly spicy. The added mozzarella cheese to the curry made it so fun to eat. The cheese stretched onto the food pieces and added a beautiful dimension to the curry. The rice was cooked to perfection, and the dish was topped with some benishoga (Japanese pickled ginger) which added some crunch. Great quality of food, with a superb taste .
Overall, this was the ultimate comfort food, and was done to perfection. 10/10. We definately recommend you all to try out Zac-Zac Japanese...
Read moreThis food stall is all the way at the back of the food court in H-Mart on the second floor.
Their curry dishes are excellent!! We ordered curry chicken udon, tonkatsu bento and karaage curry with rice. I personally loved the deep fried pork cutlet with curry.
Pricing and portion of all the dishes are reasonable. I would definitely come back and try other dishes.
I was wondering if they would do any stamp cards for customers. If I was a student or I worked in the same neighbourhood, I would come here for lunch or dinner. I could get stamps for coming here many times. It would be great to get a free meal if I got 10 stamps or more. Similar ideas like Danbo ramen. Getting 10 stamps (or eating ramen 10 times) and getting a free ramen...

They are generous with their rice portions and I'll always look forward to seeing the same two owners everyday with their kind welcoming smiles, service is 10/10. They even leave us cute thank you notes for supporting their business.
They work super hard to get orders out so wait times are usually very short and curry is creamy with free Beni shōga on the side so it doesn't feel too heavy. If you are looking for Japanese curry with crispy fried toppings this is one of the top places in Vancouver especially at a lower...
