If you're looking for a dining experience that combines decent Turkish food with the thrilling suspense of a game of "Did He Wash His Hands?", then Aga Turkish is the place for you!
My search for authentic Turkish food led me to this hidden gem, where my friends and I were the only three customers, which either means we hit a dead spot or we were the first ones brave enough to venture inside that day.
I ordered the doner sandwich, and let me tell you, the freshly baked bread was a true hero. It was the MVP of the meal, holding together a story of flavour that was... let's just say, a bit shy. It's a classic case of "it's not bad, it's just Canadian," where bold spices go on a holiday and forget to come back. My friends had the beef doner, and they seemed to enjoy their own versions of this mildly seasoned mystery.
But the real showstopper, the moment that will forever be etched in my memory, was the owner's grand entrance. He was smoking outside, a picture of leisurely bliss. The moment we walked in, so did he. He strode directly to the doner spit and began carving the meat with the confidence of a man who has never met a hand sanitizer in his life. The suspense was palpable. Did he wash his hands? Did a quick splash of water suffice? Or did he just have that special smoker's touch that adds a certain je ne sais quoi to the meat?
Ultimately, the sandwich was good. It was satisfying, even with its reserved flavour profile. But the memory of that moment, a man and his meat, unburdened by the tyranny of soap and water, is the true gift that Aga Turkish gave me. It's a story I'll be telling for years, a tale of flavour, fresh bread, and the delicious, unsettling thrill of the unknown. Four stars for the bread, three for the flavour, and five for the pure, unadulterated comedy of the...
Read moreI live in the neighborhood behind this restaurant and for some reason I never went there since today. I think it has to do something with the previous restaurant that was there that left some bad impressions. This place was the total opposite! First, we called to order, and who ever answered the phone cared about the order, made suggestions, ans genuinely felt like they are there because they want to provide the best customer service. It's hard to explain, but give them a call, you'll get it right away. (Whoever was close to the phone on Friday at 6:30 PM, you rock!). Restaurant interior is modern, but feels authentic and rustic, feels like a great family and friends vibe restaurant. Lastly the food, saved best for last. If this restaurant told me that they grow their own vegetables in a garden at their homes and bring it to the restaurant, I would believe them! These vegetables were SO FRESH!! You know when vegetables are fresh from the knife and not from some pre-cut bag. They have that certain auroma that you know right away. Now speaking of vegetables, the grilled vegetables are 10/10. Tastes just like if you would cook over open flame. So good! Lastly the meat, we ordered 3 different dishes, all were absolutely amazing. Perfectly cooked meat, super delicious and i wish I knew more words to describe it lol. You gotta try this place. I'll be going back next weekend for sure! Thank you again for the service, atmosphere, and food! A rare...

We went there on opening day and the place was immaculate! EVERYBODY was so happy, welcoming and kind.
We took our food "to-go" but the dining area was nicely decorated. Clean with comfortable seating...very inviting.
We ordered a gyro wrap and a falafel wrap and they gave us dessert (halka) for free! The wraps (lavash) themselves are made fresh to order, rolled on the spot before baking. The toppings and sauces for the wraps were all fresh and delicious but the red cabbage was the standout, fantastic! The gyro wrap was good but the falafel wrap was even better...the halka... a surprise hit! It was like a circle-shaped churro soaked in a sweetened (not too sweet) syrup... it's always great to try something new, it's even better when it's delicious! We went back a few months after the grand opening and the place and people were still amazing! The place is still super clean and the people are still super friendly. This time we had the chicken doner lavash wraps and they were awesome! Again the lavash was rolled and baked to order, its cool to see it puffed up before they fill it...and fill it they did! It was a generous portion of chicken with fresh toppings and sauces...I thought it was "heavy" when she handed me the wrap. It was delicious and FILLING, definitely a great value, this is now my "go-to"; highly...
