While the cafe is located in a beautiful area, the service had multiple issues:
We arrived on time for a mother's day reservation and were seated 15-20 minutes late, despite seeing multiple empty tables. After taking my information, the hostess forget about my group. I approached her again after patiently waiting, she asked me the same questions, I reminded her that we already spoke and she unapologetically said "I've talked to tons of people today".
When we were eventually seated and ready to order, majority of the menu items were sold out so we altered our orders. The waiter comes back and tells us that even those were not unavailable anymore. We reluctantly ordered whatever was left. After waiting 45 minutes, we still hadn't received our food. I finally walked up to the front and asked how much longer it would be. The waiter was apologetic and said it'd just be a few minutes. No one had checked on us or came to let us know about the delay during this time. We continued to wait and saw several other tables start to get up and leave without ordering due to their frustration. My sister went to the front this time and stated that we're not waiting anymore and are going to leave. Conveniently enough they said that they were just plating our orders and were about to bring it out. My mom's plate arrived and it was COLD. We let them know and the order was replaced. Total time wasted - over an hour and a half.
The 2-star rating is only because the food was OK, we did receive an apology and they provided 10% off our meal. Overall I would not come back here to eat. As a restaurant that took reservations on mother's day, they should have been more organized and prepared knowing the volume they were expecting. There were obvious communication issues amongst staff and it made for an unpleasant outing. Very...
Read moreThe CABIN Café at the McMichael Art Gallery in Kleinburg was a delightful discovery during our visit. After exploring the gallery, sitting down to a meal here felt like the perfect way to wrap up the experience. The menu offers a mix of comfort food and creative dishes, and everything we tried was delicious. Their Cabin Cheeseburger burger with crispy kettle chips was flavorful and satisfying, and the smoked trout toast stood out as a personal favorite with its fresh and vibrant taste.
Another highlight was the truffled grilled cheese was indulgent, paired beautifully with curried ketchup and pesto sauces, while the pictured avocado toast with a side of crisp salad was equally enjoyable.
On another earlier visit, I tried the Tuna Nicoise Salad, a refreshing and light option, while my companion had the Chopped kale, cabbage, Beet Hummus salad, which was crisp and flavorful. To top it off, a cappuccino paired with a slice of chocolate XO cake made for a satisfying late-afternoon treat. The café's welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, and stunning views from the picture windows added to the charm. Whether you're hungry after a gallery tour or just in the area, the CABIN Café is...
Read moreI wanted to love this place as the grounds are beautiful and there is an absolutely gorgeous view from the cafe. However, the manager is quite condescending and unhelpful. There was an issue with the food, and rather than offering potential solutions by problem-solving (e.g., offering additional food for an extra charge or another choice, etc), she impolitely said, ‘I don’t know what to tell you. Would you rather eat this or nothing?’. I selected option b, as I was taken aback by the shocking behaviour. Such a shame, because it seems like a wonderful place otherwise. Hopefully, learning takes place in terms of improving problem-solving abilities. Never in my 39 years have I received this type of service. I am quite respectful and mindful in how I speak to others and expected the same in return. Unfortunately, that was not the case. A few of the ladies sitting beside me were a bit...
