Been meaning to try this place out for some months now, as I'm a fan of Pakistani/Indian/Hakka, and tonight finally ordered some food from them. I had the tandoori momo's, the chicken platter, and some naan. I found the momo's to be poorly constructed-- very loose, easily falling apart--, the flavour of the stuffing being rather mild (needs more seasoning), but worst of all, the tandoori stuff it's coated in just didn't seem all that well integrated- just seemed like a lazy toss in a pan, not evenly coating the momo's. As for the chicken platter- I was looking forward to this, so as to be able to experience the different chicken dishes they offer, but found each and every one equally lacking in flavour. I don't know how long they marinade for, but it seems (based on depth of flavour) like a very quick one, maybe just a few minutes- certainly not enough to penetrate the protein for a deep-season, which is what I was hoping for. The best part of the meal ended up being the part I tacked on at the last moment- the garlic naan. It was nice and fluffy, but even that was lacking flavour (garlic- not enough of it). All in all, the food seemed of okay quality (but needs some refinement), but lacked flavour- I don't think it was anywhere near worth the $40+. I might give the restaurant another shot at some point as they have an expansive menu, but it might not be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis has quickly become my family's favourite neighborhood takeout place (we haven't had a sit-down dinner in the dining room yet). The variety of dishes is impressive, and some of them are really excellent. I've tended to prefer their more classic Indian dishes over the hakka ones, with the dal makhani, methi malai mutter and methi lamb really standing out. And they really have a way with chicken! Their madras chicken curry is one of the most delicious dishes I've had in any restaurant, not only because the gravy is so tasty, but because the chicken itself is so moist and tender. I also tried their grilled chicken platter, and can't decide which variety I like best, they're all so good! Among the hakka dishes, the momos are really exciting, and I can't decide if I prefer the tandoori ones or the chili stir-fried ones (why choose? Get both!). The noodles are also delicious and my wife and I couldn't stop eating the chili chicken, even though we were already full. Occasionally I find the dishes a bit too salty, and the salt level is a bit inconsistent from one dish to the next. Sometimes I'll get a dish that is a bit ho-hum, but rarely. And given how large and varied the menu is, the vast majority of dishes are fantastic. Overall, this is a wonderful restaurant and every time we order from here, it makes for a happy and...
