This is a fabulous restaurant in Woodbridge that brings me back to my summer eating my way through Italy.
To start, we had the Supplì ($10) and the Polpette ($12). The supplì had a light crispy shell with a cheese center and zesty fresh tomato sauce on the side. Taking a bite of it transported me back to the food markets of Rome.
The Polpette was probably my favourite part of the meal. The veal and pork meatballs were so flavourful, juicy and tender and the tomato sauce and slices of Padano cheese on top made it even better.
For our mains, we had the Pappardelle ($20) with a flavorful, tender, melt in your mouth braised short rib ragu. The noodles were thick and perfectly cooked.
The Ravioli Riccardo ($18) was stuffed with wild boar and Padano cheese and then topped with perfectly cooked crimini mushrooms, roasted cherry tomatoes and a savoury browned butter sauce. A great mix of sweet and savoury flavours in this dish.
The Risotto ($21) was perfectly cooked with the rice maintaining just a slight firmness in the center. Served with wild assorted mushrooms and Padano cheese, and simmered in white wine and mushroom stock, this was a creamy and tasty dish.
When I dined here, the main restaurant was closed and we ended up eating in the side banquet hall so I cannot comment on the atmosphere of the actual restaurant - but from looking in through the window, it looked classy and beautiful. This was a wonderful meal with first class service and surprisingly large portions. Will not...
Read moreWe were a group of 6 for dinner- the food was great, however, when we asked to split the bill we were met with abrasive attitude from the manager (we’ve never seen a waiter, let alone management, act this way with paying clients). Once he grudgingly split the bill, another waiter came over to take our payments. When he gave each of us the card machine, there was no option to add tip (we assumed he added it into our food costs as we were a group so we didn’t mention it). One of our friends saw the waiter push “no tip” on the machine before handing it to us.
After we paid, the manager came back out and threw a five dollar bill on the table, visibly upset and saying that we insulted him with a $5 tip and better to leave nothing (none of us left $5 because none of us had the option to leave a tip). When two of us went inside to clarify that there was no option to add a tip, he immediately shouted at us to get out of his restaurant.
We were left in shock at the treatment from this individual and will not be returning to this restaurant or recommending it. The owner should be made aware of how poorly this individual is communicating...
Read moreAfter spending $400 with a 20% tip I cannot recommend this restaurant. I asked twice are the gnocchi homemade. Yes twice. They were not. These hard gnocchi were not home made and my wife and I were very very disappointed. These guys survive on party's not foodies. I was brushed off when I said “i have had better gnocchi from a can”. When you fool your customers with a $25 gnocchi plate with 2 tablespoons of sauce then you will lose not 4 customers but now 4 x 10 or 40 customers. Never lie or rip off the customers because they vote with their feet. Am I having a 30th Anniversary party with 40 guests spending $4500 or more? No way. A huge fail in trust and transparency with these restaurants charging big money for basic food. If I spent $100 for 4 people I would not complain but next time I go downtown and not waste my money at a strip mall...
