Delicious, Filling, Unique. These are the words that come to mind as I think about the culinary treat that was the Blue Fox Cafe! We were first timers and arrived with our 1 year old. Firstly, although the line to get in at 9am on a Friday morning was long, it moved fairly quickly an we were seated within 20 minutes. The next thing we noticed were the friendly staff and the plastic animal and dinosaur figurines they had available for our little nugget to play with. We scanned the menu and ordered some delicious lattes to start. My better half ordered the exceptionally good maple latte and I agonized between caramel macadamia latte or mocha chili latte. I opted for the latter and neither of us were disappointed. For food, my bride ordered the salmon omelet with capers. I asked the waitress what she would recommend. She quickly said that hat the Morocco Chicken Eggs Benedict was one of their signature dishes. I like to go for a restaurants sig dish so went for it. The wait for food, once we ordered, was longer than I would have liked, especially with a little one, but after about 30 minutes it arrived. And all I can say is WOW! It was worth the wait! Both dishes were exceptionally delicious and exceptionally filling. My wife couldn't finish hers and I deserve a medal for finishing mine. That, my friends, was a serious portion of food. The food came with some homemade hot sauces and a homemade pineapple jam. All were excellent. The house made pan fried potatoes were crunchy and nicely seasoned. The Moroccan chicken was all sauced up with a fig and date jam of some kind along with sautéed mushrooms and onions. Mmm. The eggs themselves were poached medium. Perfect. I loved it all. My partners salmon and capers and spinach were delicious wrapped in omelet. One last note, I appreciated the servers coming and offering us free coffee refills even though we had ordered specialty coffees. Other places we've been haven't done this, but it seems to make sense that if you've payed the higher price for th premium coffee, you should be entitled to regular coffee refills for the rest of the meal like everyone else. All in all, if you are really hungry, want something unique and delicious to eat and have about 1.5 hours in your day available, this...
Read moreThis was our last breakfast in Victoria. Even though this was more pricy, we chose this place because of the food photos we saw. We ordered two Island Eggs, one with pork sausage and one with house stewed beans. We got a table inside, but because it was so divided with plexi/glass dividers, we felt safe. The staff all wore masks. Our server was efficient, but we made the mistake of not ordering coffee when we first sat down. The server was very busy and never checked back after serving the coffee. My companion had to drink his coffee with sugar but no way to stir the sugar as we could not get our server's attention for a spoon. I did not enjoy my sour dough toast, it was airy and empty, the jam too sweet. The sausages looked awesome in photos, but they were super dry and tasteless, almost like plastic, very weird experience. We did not finish them. The poached eggs were done to our specification, but the eggs tasted old or there's too much vinegar in the water or both. The one thing that was really good was the pan fried potatoes. Since the food photos on Google looked so good, we were very...
Read moreI've heard about this place and seen the long line up out the door so we had to try it. We went on a holiday around 10 am and it wasn't too bad of a line. We waited about 30 mins which wasn't as bad as others I've heard of.
It's a small place, not a lot of tables or seating but quaint feeling. The service was good, friendly and seated us right away. The food took a bit but it was busy.
The menu was a bit disappointing. None of the breakfast meals would include pancakes or french toast, you need to order one or the other, so you'd have to add eggs as a side or bacon if you wanted that. Otherwise it's just dessert for breakfast. But they also don't make waffles or crepes....crazy for a breakfast joint.
They do have large portions which is great, and the food is pretty good. But just not worth the price and wait in line. We spent $65 for two people, I normally spend that on a decent dinner.
Eggs and bacon can only cost so much and at the end of the day this place is a tourist trap, perfect for yelp. Enjoy the wait...
