Was slightly unimpressed. Firstly, our server forgot one of our orders. Maybe the music was too loud she couldn’t hear properly. She could have also repeated our order to confirm. Then when asked, she said that order would come out within 5 minutes. Which makes me question the quality of the food. What takes 5 mins to make that isn’t from frozen. A respectable restaurant would acknowledge that missed order and would cover that meal. Instead she commented on how she didn’t hear properly. How often are the servers not hearing properly? Don’t get me wrong, she was sweet, kind and pleasant. Had nothing to do with her service. Just the way the incident was dealt with, I believe could have been more professional. “Sorry I forgot about your meal, that one order is on us”
And for $20 worth of wine, it’s great that you fill it to the brim. But then I end up spilling a quarter of it because it’s so full. I think $20 dollars worth could use a proper wine glass, even one from the dollar store.
We really appreciated the friendly service and welcoming atmosphere. That said, a couple of things didn’t quite align with the level of professionalism we expected—like the wine being served in a regular wine glass and a missed food item that wasn’t properly addressed. It felt a bit out of step with standard restaurant etiquette, especially given how well everything else...
Read moreDuring a visit to Victoria, Vancouver Island, to see my daughter, I had a craving for seafood. After a long Google search, we found Shuck Taylor's, a restaurant with excellent reviews and high recommendations. The location was convenient—just a 7-minute drive from my daughter’s home. We were fortunate to find parking only about 20 meters from the restaurant, which made our experience even smoother.
Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly server. The ambiance and atmosphere were quite different from what I’ve expected for a seafood restaurant. The modern, contemporary design of the space, along with the choice of music, gave the place a fresh and vibrant feel. The clientele was a nice mix, reflecting the restaurant’s appeal to different demographics.
The menu was simple and straightforward, which we appreciated, especially as it was our first time there. We arrived during happy hour, so many dishes were available at discounted prices. Unsure of what to try, we started with oysters, clams, and prawns. Everything was delicious! The service was fast, and the staff was attentive and friendly.
The restaurant was clean and well-organized, which added to the positive experience. Overall, we had a great time and will definitely be returning. Highly recommended!

Read moreTo start off, the food at this place was great; loved the lobster roll, buns are soft with generous amount of meat; fried oysters are tasty, the seafood steamers were comforting as well.
Now, I enjoyed the food when I took my parents who were visiting me in Canada for the first time, so I took my partner again within the same month; after I sat down, I tried to move my seat closer to look at the menu, my finger got pinched between the cushion and the frame — they were completely detached. It caused immediate bruising and swelling (not showing attached but took a picture).
When I told this ONE STAFF wearing a cap that day, all I got was a dismissive “oh yeah it’s broken,” with no concern, no apology, or attempt to do anything about this chair that apparently he already knew was broken. It’s unacceptable for a restaurant to ignore such a basic safety issue.
With two empty stomachs, we proceeded with ordering, enjoyed our food, and on our way checking out, my partner let the other server know about the chair and the previous server’s attitude, and he immediately expressed his concerns, said he’s sorry even if it’s not his fault whatsoever. I didn’t want anything else, was it that hard for the first server?
I hope the management takes this seriously and addresses the safety of their seating to prevent others from...
