🍽️ This is my review after the sixth visit. Nestled in the heart of Westmount, Petros is a Greek culinary haven that I recently had the pleasure of experiencing. From the moment I stepped in, the restaurant's beauty struck me - a perfect blend of traditional Greek charm and modern elegance. The warm lighting, rustic decor, and inviting atmosphere set the stage for a memorable dining experience, complemented by the company I was fortunate to share it with. 😍
🕰️ As I settled in, it became evident that the restaurant was understaffed, with only one waiter and a pair of hostesses attending to the entire dining area. While this didn't dampen the overall mood, it did extend the waiting times, testing our patience ever so slightly. 😕 The presence of the manager was noted, though his involvement seemed limited when it came to assisting the team during peak hours. It would have been a plus to witness a more hands-on managerial approach. 🤷♂️
🥗 Now, let's delve into the culinary delights that Petros had to offer. The Greek salad, a true hallmark of Mediterranean cuisine, was a burst of freshness on the palate. The generous cuts of tomatoes provided a juicy and tangy counterpoint to the crisp lettuce, cucumbers, and olives. The dressing, a medley of olive oil, lemon, and herbs, tied the elements together harmoniously. 😋
🦑 A standout among the appetizers was the grilled calamari. The delightful char on the tender rings of calamari showcased the kitchen's mastery of grilling, while the seasoning brought out the natural flavors of the seafood. The dish disappeared from the table in no time, leaving behind satisfied smiles all around. 🦑
🍣 For the main course, I decided to embark on a seafood journey, opting for the trio of salmon, grilled shrimp, and swordfish. The fish was beautifully cooked, each variety carrying its unique taste and texture. The salmon, delicate and buttery, practically melted in my mouth, while the swordfish offered a firm and succulent bite. The grilled shrimp, marinated to perfection, provided a satisfying crunch that paired wonderfully with the seafood's tenderness. 🍤🐟
🥦 Alas, not every dish was flawless. The green beans, which had the potential to shine as a delightful side, were unfortunately let down by an unexpected mushiness. It was a minor setback, considering the overall quality of the meal, but still worth mentioning. 🥦
🍷 Petros brings forth a commendable Greek dining experience that marries picturesque surroundings with a medley of flavorful dishes. While the service might have experienced some bottlenecks, the delightful food and charming ambiance ultimately prevail. A visit to Petros promises a journey to the heart of Greece's culinary traditions, where the flavors transport you to the sun-kissed shores of the...
Read morePetros Westmount is undoubtedly a standout dining destination in the heart of Westmount, Montreal. With a warm and inviting atmosphere, this restaurant offers an impressive culinary experience that, in my opinion, deserves a solid four out of five stars.
What sets Petros apart is its commitment to delivering delectable Mediterranean cuisine. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with a charming ambiance that combines modern elegance with a touch of traditional Greek decor. It's the perfect setting for a romantic dinner or a special celebration.
The menu at Petros Westmount is a true culinary delight. With a focus on fresh ingredients and authentic flavors, every dish feels like a journey through the Mediterranean. The selection of appetizers, from crispy calamari to savory spanakopita, is a testament to the chef's dedication to quality.
One of the standout features of Petros is its seafood offerings. The grilled octopus is a must-try, tender and bursting with flavor. The fish options are equally impressive, with choices like the whole sea bass cooked to perfection.
Service at Petros Westmount is friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive dining experience. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu and wine selection, which enhances the meal even further.
While the overall experience at Petros Westmount is exceptional, there is room for improvement, which is why I rated it four stars instead of five. The pricing can be on the higher side, so it may not be an everyday dining option for everyone. Additionally, the noise level in the restaurant can be quite high during peak hours, making it a bit challenging for intimate conversations.
In conclusion, Petros Westmount is a fantastic choice for Mediterranean cuisine lovers. Its delectable dishes, charming atmosphere, and attentive service make it a dining experience worth savoring. While there are minor drawbacks to consider, the overall quality of the food and ambiance make this restaurant a solid four-star destination for a...
Read moreThe lobster was frozen before being cooked, rubbery. Pasta was drowning in olive oil. Although healthy, it's still oil and you don't want it too much. The spread was good. The moussaka had unexpected cinnamom in it, which was a bold choice from the chef as people can very much dislike the taste. The least pleasant experience was the level of noise. Two large tables were booked, with guests yelling at each other from both ends of the table. It was impossible to listen to tour partner. There was room outside, so we asked to the kind waitresses to move to another table. But the owner took our request badly for some reason and we received no help to move our dishes, we had to do ourselves. Strangely enough, this gave a hint to another table to move as well, people known by the chef/owner, and they had help from the staff. Basic attention become a VIP thing... This made the most unpleasant experience. As the director of the restaurant you want to understand and satisfy your customers, this is the most basic commercial ambition, but he was not that kind of person. Obviously, the experience seems to be better if the customer is an old acquaintance of his. We were not and now we will never be.
Tip: tell your customers at their arrival when it is a special night, noisier than usual, so they have the choice. Also, describe in the menu all the ingredients to avoid unpleasant surprises (what if there was an allergy to cinnamon), mention if fish is fresh instead of frozen. I could be happy to pay 48$ for some fresh lobster, not so much for frozen one. And above all, put your pride aside and take good care of new customers. It's a restaurant, not a private party. Service is key to the business, the director could learn from his junior staff, way...
