Pros: Before the pandemic, I was always happy with the food and service here. Now they are one of very few restaurants that has a covered terrace, so you can dine 'outside' even when the weather is not cooperating. Cons: This is based on my most recent meal. We went for a light meal before going to the cinema. While the service was attentive, the meal was nothing special, and the server was impatient with our questions. The cocktails were totally average. The salad and wings felt like they had been made from leftovers from other dishes. The burger was tasty, but when I asked if they could serve it with the relish on the side we were told there was 'absolutely no modifications' because they are 'not a burger joint'. I mean, I understand, but there were like 6 other tables in the place at the time (more than 1 waitstaff/table) and it's still a $32 burger that was clearly a take on a Big Mac. There was NO presentation whatsoever, just the item on the plate. So, 3 stars since I had had a few 4-5 star experiences here before, but this last one was max a 2. I will look harder next time for somewhere else with a...
Read moreGood service although staff is young and constantly interrupting and/or taking dishes away while others at the table were still eating. Some servers were loud and unruly serving other tables, clearly in party mode with their friends (patrons). The food is overrated (in our humble opinion). Bread (which was sparsely served as one slice cut in 1/2 until we mentioned something) was stone cold and crumbling apart in our hands. The roast cauliflower was delicious but cold. One of us had to send back our main dish as it was not fresh (fish). Ended up with overpriced macaroni which was good but the pleasure factor was no better than Kraft mac n cheese. Wines were ok but first round had to be sent back as it was “off”. All in all, I don’t get it what the fuss is all about. Absolutely nothing spectacular. Once was...
Read moreA great evening. Our first visit back since Covid. Starters of smoked haddock white bean dip with home made potato chips, and the crustini layered with capicola and buratta were delicious. Two of us had the steak with wine reduction which was so melt-in-your mouth it came across like tenderloin, not a NY strip. The lamb neck special with peas and rosemary was comfort food and satisfying. Lastly a plate of their rigatoni with pulpette was enjoyed thoroughly as the tomato sauce had that texture and flavour that only comes from slow cooking. As with everything else in 2022, prices are higher than I would have expected to pay a year or two ago... but this is "now". The staff were polite, engaging and knowledgeable. Throw in the free evening parking in the Westmount Square garage and you have a...
