Very disappointed, was an awful experience. We should never have walked in the door.... When we arrived, there was a man outside of the restaurant clearly under the influence, and women smoking right in front of the door. I wanted to leave already, not the looks of a place I wanna bring my kids into, but it was almost 7 and we were all hungry, and my wife spoke highly of it.... We went in and the waitress took our drink order, she came back 20 minutes later with them and to take our food order. Everyone ordered fish and chips but myself. I was undecided, but the waitress sold me on Chicken Parmesan. Over an hour goes by and my wife and kids fish and chips arrives. 2 were good, 1 was not. But no chicken parm.... Then, a different waitress, (different colored shirt) who I'm assuming was a manager as she seemed to be in charge, arrived at our table hurriedly while I was turned the other way helping my daughter with getting some ketchup... she said something so fast I don't even know what she said, but I told her I didn't think that was my chicken parm... She drops a piece of garlic bread in front of me and says oh, well here you go for now, must be a kitchen mix up. Wow, thanks for your time and willingness to make a customer happy! How does a waitress, help convince you to order a certain dish, but then not get you that dish!? Personally, I like my garlic bread with my chicken parm, lol not as an app. I assumed when my meal did eventually come, that I'd at least get more garlic bread. Nope, when my meal arrived, after my family was done eating and having dessert, there was the chicken, and some version of penne alfredo, that tasted like white cheddar Kraft dinner. Like, the 2 things on the plate, totally didn't go together... I suffered through half of my meal but couldn't even finish it. There was no offer of 10% off my meal. No offer of a free dessert. Not even a bloody extra piece of garlic bread. $70+ for an awful experience. I will never go back, and would never recommend it to anyone. It's pretty sad when you take your family out to dinner somewhere, and they really don't care how your...
Read moreRacist establishment!! I went in with my mom around brunch time on a Saturday a few months ago and it still bothers me to think about the way we were treated. We are both women of color.
The restaurant was pretty dead at the time. The booths along the right hand side when you walk in were taken but the middle tables and booths to the left were all vacant. The waitress was very nice but the young, white hostess was not in the least bit friendly. I requested a booth on the left to which she replied “no” without giving me any type of reasoning. I thought nothing of it however since it was my first time at this establishment, I really wanted to be seated in one of boothes with the juke boxes. About 15 minutes later, a white woman and her two young children entered, they requested a booth and were seated in the exact area that I was told I could not sit. This really irritated us, we wanted to leave right away but since we had already ordered food, we decided to stay. The food took forever to come and it was very bland/mediocre at best. I can’t believe they sell 2 boiled jumbo hotdogs in a bun and call that a meal. The entire time we were there a VERY strong odour of cigarettes could be smelled from where we were sitting.
Needles to say I won’t be back to this racist establishment. Durham region is becoming very multicultural and you should acknowledge that and train your staff accordingly as the hostess’s behaviour was UNACCEPTABLE. Public Health should be called in regards to cigarettes being smoked in the restaurant as well, I don’t appreciate my health being put at risk. I truly hope they close this place down and replace it with a franchised restaurant or something more up to date.
I will encourage my other friends and family members who are of also of color to try this place and if they experience the same treatment, we will take this to the media and...
Read moreWith high recommendations, I took my daughter-in-law and grandson out for lunch to Melanie Pringles. I hadn't been there since my son was my grandson's age.
The atmostphere was how I remembered it, fun and nostalgic and very clean.
We were greeted at the door by an incredibly friendly hostess and seated immediately. We were given menus to look at and then waited and waited for service. Our food came to our table in an okay time period. We ordered the fish n' chips from the children's menu for my grandson. Nana tried the fish as it looked good, and was very surprised when I bit down on a bone. I thank my daddy for teaching me all those years ago to eat white fish with my front teeth to avoid swallowing a bone. My grandson, though is not old enough to know how to do that and I shutter at how catastrophic that situation would have been had he gotten that piece of fish.
After waiting again for a significant period of time to have our plates cleared and receive the bill, I brought the bone to the attention of our server who explained that the restaurant had a third party that deboned their fish. I understood and relayed that I knew it wasn't her fault, but it might be a good idea to warn parents that the restaurant cannot guarantee there are no bones in the fish.
I would have expected a Manager to come out and talk to us about it, but nothing. We received a $15.00 off coupon for our next visit....that is assuming we are going to go back.
The waitress we had was very nice, but must have been run off her feet as the service was incredibly slow, it took us 2 hours from the time we got there to the time we left, which I think is too long for a lunch.
We were very disappointed and my daughter-in-law is traumatized about the potential consequences that bone would have caused had it lodged itself in his...
