Now I understand why there are hardly any Garbonzos left in the city and why this particular location has so many horrible reviews. As my father is in the HSC, yesterday and today I went to Garbonzo’s for supper. Yesterday’s pizza was dry as if they intentionally skimped on the pizza sauce. The waitress offered to have it fixed, but I had no time for it to be remade. Today 2/3rds of the glasses of Coke was ice. If there was any more ice the colour of the Coke would have been off. Finally got my third refill (still would have been on a first glass at a better restaurant) I said if I could have a drink with a normal amount of ice? Waitress did give me a normal amount of ice on the 3rd glass and apologized saying the owner/manager makes them do that (she agreed it was ridiculous and embarrassing). I asked if he was here so I can tell him directly how bad skimping on $0.03 (their cost) of soft drink makes the restaurant look….especially since refills are included. Apparently he’s not smart enough to think about the cost of water not only for the ice but the dishwasher as they go through way more glasses this way, straws, electricity cost and wages for staff to waste their time because the owner isn’t smart enough to realize being so cheap is actually costing him money and adds to his business’s bad reputation. The owner can’t see the Forrest...
Read moreStaying at the attached Canad Inns Hotel, I've eaten at this Garbonzo's a few times (once inside, twice takeout) and the waitress the first visit was great, made sure everything was dairy free for me, and they sometimes have vegan cheese for pizzas or you can do one without, either way not great but they do the trick.
Tonight was a disaster though, I ordered two salads again and they completely messed up my order and gave me such a run around I'm actually quite surprised how poor the service and attention to detail was. I got the Greek salad and specifically asked for no Feta, but the salad had some (not a ton but it was little bits mostly on the tomatoes and all over). I had to call twice to get to someone, the first time I was hung up on (after constantly being put on hold), then I waited minutes to get someone and was told I would be called back and a new order would be sent up to my room... but I was never called back and nothing came to my room. My elderly mom had to go down there twice as I am now recovering from a surgery when I was trying to see what was happening and they never made things right, and I have no Greek salad now. The Green Salad was all iceberg lettuce this time too (it was way more green when I ate it in the restaurant), I'm so disappointed (these are not cheap salad's either), not going back and I'd avoid...
Read moreThey need to update there kids menu. On the menu it lists kids meal including free drinks, but the catch is that you have to dine inside. The issue is that the menu do not include that important piece of information on the kids menu. Only after five days of staying here I realized I was getting charged an additional $9.00 for three orange juice for the kids. It's not coming out of my pocket personally because of my job but I still dislike that there isn't enough clarity or a disclaimer. Not the workers fault at all as they explained to me in a professional way when I questioned them. Hopefully there will be a little more clarity when they update it in the future.
Aaltos is the superior restaurant when it comes to customer service and honoring their menu list.
Updated to five star from 2 star because of a employee named Abdul. He gave exceptional service consistent and i would hate to give a bad review when the workers are...
