Iâve been here a bunch of times and itâs generally been good. But the last two times I was here my experiences were bad enough to make me want to write a review.
The previous time I was here(a few weeks ago), I asked the waitress what they had on tap and she angrily said to scan the QR code to look at the drink list. I did just that and selected my drink of choice only to have her come back a few minutes later telling me in an angry tone that my drink was no longer available and the most up to date list is actually on the board and not on the website as she originally suggested. The rest of the evening was not much different.
I come in tonight and sat on the side of the bar because the front was taken. Given my previous experience, I donât bother scanning the QR code, but the board is far and itâs dark so I canât see the drink list well. When the bartender asks me what I want I tell her that I canât see the drink list on the board because itâs too far so I ask her whatâs on tap. What she said next was very rude (I felt) and made me angry. She said âwell you can just get up and walk to the front to look at what we haveâ. To use an analogy, if a restaurant doesnât keep their menu current and lists what they have on a board thatâs too far for you to see and you ask the waitress to tell you whatâs on the menu tonight and she says âwhy donât you go into the kitchen and figure it out for yourselfâ I think youâd be angry as well. So yeah, that wasnât cool. But then a group of people walk in and they ask for nine of them to be seated, the same bartender angrily says to the waitress âwhere are we going to put them all?!â How about anywhere!!! It is Sunday night around 8:30 pm, the place is %25 full at best. Itâs not a question of where you can seat them, because the answer is anywhere. Itâs a question of whether you want to do your job and serve them.
Itâs sad because the place has potential, but unless the attitude of the staff changes, I donât want to go back.
Edit: Response to Brad. I was not sitting at the front of the bar where I would be able to see clearly everything that was on tap, I was sitting on the side that when I looked at the taps they were lined up in a single file and I couldn't seen what it said on them. I'm attaching a diagram and I'd love it if you could explain to me how the bar tender thought I could see all the taps from where I was sitting.
As for the group of nine... She said that as soon as they came in. I don't know what happened next, if someone was underage or not, but it was clear that she wasn't happy to see them as soon as they walked in.
Look, I get it, their job is not easy. They work hard and often deal with less than pleasant people. We all have bad days, were human. However, the last two times I was here your staff took their anger out on me. I didn't do anything to them and I don't appreciate being treated that way.

We were seated on the patio and the server took nearly 10 minutes to bring menus. Ordered chicken fingers and fries for the baby, a spicy chicken burger with an upgrade to the poutine, and a regular chicken burger with an upgrade to salad for my husband. While we waited for the food, we took in the atmosphere .The music was a little loud for the patio, but it wasn't too bothersome, but noticed the patio filled up fairly quickly. Nearly everyone ordered alcoholic beverages it seemed - some of them sounded good, but we had other obligations after dinner so we did not drink. With the hefty wait time for getting our food, we began getting impatient, especially after noticing that tables who were seated after us, were getting their food before us. The waitress noticed we were getting antsy, and said the food should be out shortly. After nearly an hour wait, the food came out cold, and soggy. We had to send it back, and it seemed like they threw it under the warmer for a few minutes before bringing it back again....still cold. We kindly told the waitress we weren't accepting the meal, we were on a time restraint for them to remake the meal, and that we will happily pay for the single Coca-cola that was drunk, and leave. She came back and said the whole meal was taken care of and to have a nice day. Not sure why they insisted to take care of our meals we didn't even touch them, but rather offer a complimentary $3 drink than make things right. Unfortunately, after hearing several people rave about this place and their food portions, I would have to question why? Food portions were minimal for the price you pay. When a problem arises, they don't care to address it fully, and would rather have someone else fill the seats more suited for someone who would be consuming alcoholic beverages. My friends and I have been coming to Leopold Traven at Plessis Transcona every week for over 18months now, but the incident that happened today Sept 10, 2025 made us realize that the staff donât like seen us there.
We placed an order for over 40minutes, we didnât get our orders then we followed up with the staff that took our order, she said and I quote âyour orders are coming but if you canât wait we can bring them raw for youâ. For reference this staff has always made error on our bill any day she attends to us and we have always in good faith corrected those bills before making payments. We reported this comment to the supervisor on duty and the supervisor response was worse. She yelled and said âWe have noticed you guys just come in and wave at my staff, I am already short 2staffâ
Donât you see we are busy, I shouldnât tell you that, you can look around and see that for yourself
I donât have time for you guys, you guys should just leave and not come back to this establishment anymoreâ
âŚâŚ..and she worked away.
The supervisor had zero deescalating skills, very rude and unprofessional. She even threatened us with Cops, we waited for the Cops but they didnât arrive.
What the incident interpreted to myself and my friends was that We were treated and spoken to in this manner because we are black, because I donât know why following up on my order will result into such disrespect and humiliation. They knew we come every week and it showed that they donât like seeing our faces, because we asked the supervisor if she sees us every week and she yes she knows us, meaning she knows we patronize that location every week. I strongly recommend that this incident be investigated by the management of the organization, because this speak a volume about the organization.
