Poké Mono — Restaurant in Winnipeg

Had early dinner here withe the wife and wanted to try some Poke so we ordered a large Tuna Poke bowl which was quite good and Takoyaki which was also good but would prefer it arrive pipping hot. Both these dishes were good and will order again for sure.

The Salmon Onigiri and Spam Musubi failed to meet my expectations, was too dry and lacking so for those there is a lot of room for improvement. I even suggested offering a “flight” of Onigiri in a bit smaller portion so that customers can sample all the flavours but needs to be improved first.

Poke Mono has a nice interior vibe, there were a lot of take outs but I would say good place to dine in as well. The chef/owner (I assume) seemed like a genuinely nice guy and we felt welcomed the moment he approached and chatted with us.

It truly feels like Poké Mono is a hidden gem in Winnipeg, with no signage outside, just discreetly displayed on the windows. My wife and I recently dined there, and interestingly, we were the only patrons at the time.

Opting for the Hawaiian Terimayo Spam Bowl, I was pleasantly surprised by the fantastic flavour. The portion size exceeded my expectations, and considering what I received, the price was an absolute bargain. The taste was nothing short of amazing. I won’t lie, after a handful of bad poke bowl experiences (looking at you Freshii) I was skeptical going into this place. But I was on the go and looking for something healthy.

So I ordered the veggie bowl, but got busy so ended up eating it for lunch the next day.

This was probably one of the healthiest take out meals I have ever eaten. And it actually tasted good!

Their ingredients are so fresh, and they don’t overdue the sauce too much. Extra points for offering brown rice as well.
