Honestly one of the worst experiences of going out to eat I think I’ve ever had...and this my first time ever coming to this location as I just moved to this area in September.. and out of my twenty-six years of life I have never been treated so poorly..came in and waited a while to be seated because no one appeared at the front which is fine because they were busy, the manager (short, red coloured hair) it looked like finally came up to seat us - asks abruptly if we plan on having wings; which took us back a little because we don’t usually plan out what we‘re going to eat before arriving..when my partner asks if she can seat us one table down she huffed dramatically and picked everything up angrily, then made a weird fake overly nice comment about unwrapping our cutlery for us already, right there we should have left my gut feeling told me but I ignored it and pushed through. We’re almost done eating and our waitress, Cammy I believe it says on my receipt? Comes by to ask if we need anything else, my partner asks for another drink and the receipt which never arrives until we’re done eating and he has to ask again, to which she brings the drink and receipt and leaves again? So my partner left $50 on the table with a 45 dollar and some change mediocre meal. We go to the bathroom, tell her to have a good night and that it was cash and leave. As we get to our vehicle we notice she was standing at the door, then basically runs over to the manager and to which the manager rudely wobbles outside half standing in front of us still parked warming up the vehicle...he rolls down the window and she aggressively and very rudely asks if we’re planning to “pay your bill” ...excuse me?? If I was going to dine and dash EVER in my life it definitely would NOT be from smitty’s...also where we sat is right in front of a camera. We told her it was on the table off to the side so it wasn’t in the open and she never came back to apologize and also the waitress, Cammy got a tip for basically assuming we didn’t pay when she didn’t even check the table the entire time we went to the bathroom and even after we left before assuming we didn’t pay. I honestly will never step foot in this location again otherwise I’d come inside and ask for my partners change - the mediocre service and food isn’t even worth a .25 cent tip, seriously, do better guys, this was pathetic. Get yourselves a new location manager too she seems bitter and sick of her Job.

Deeply disappointing experience earlier this week and most definitely not up to the same standards as other Smitty’s locations I have visited. Was not given a choice of restaurant or lounge, the restaurant was not busy but taken into the lounge anyway which had less than a handful of customers in it. My issue was not with the decor in the lounge, it was very nice, had a sports bar look and atmosphere. My husband ordered egg and toast with jam and I ordered the one egg breakfast with a glass of water and we both had coffees. Didn’t have to wait too long for the food so that was good. However, after a different server brought our food and told us half my husband’s toast was accidentally dropped they were making a fresh slice and would bring it out. Not a problem as these things happen and we appreciated the honesty, except we couldn’t start eating because we had no cutlery! We waited a couple of minutes as like to give people the benefit of the doubt and thought she’s probably coming with my water I’d ordered anyway and my husband’s toast and will bring us our cutlery, we were both missing the jams also. Few minutes passed with no sign of anybody. My husband resorted to eating his scrambled eggs with the teaspoon from the coffee and meanwhile my breakfast is getting cold. When the server who brought us our food (not our designated server) appeared back behind the bar my husband went to ask for some cutlery, she then asked for how many people 1 or 2??!!! Gave up on expecting the jams so didn’t bother asking for that even though it’s mentioned in the price. She brought my husbands other piece of toast (after he’d already finished his food!!) and I had to remind again about my water and HP sauce I’d asked for in the beginning, but at least by now I had a knife and fork to eat my stone cold crunchy bacon & eggs and dry crispy overcooked cubed hash browns with. I might’ve ordered the soup if I’d have known it existed like our neighbouring customers were offered when their menus and cutlery were brought to them, all we were told is “lunch on one side, brekkie on the other” Not once were we asked how the food was, unlike our neighbouring table, nor were we offered any more coffee until my husband went to the bar to ask for a refill. SMITTYS IS NOT IT! July 10th 2022 , 2:40pm. This it’s not the first time that has happened to me with Smitty’s. I ordered food worth over $80 and did not receive my complete items. I ordered their Bacon Denver omelette , not only did they not include the toast to go with my meal, but they also didn't give me the breakfast poutine I paid $3,49 extra for. Today I decided to call Smittys directly, the St James location seeing as its where i ordered from. I was passed on to the manager and I explained to her the situation and she said she’ll look into it. She came back to me saying that I have the poutine is packed and that all i had to do was pour the hollandise on top of my hash browns and that was the poutine! That made no sense and I told her that, and she explained that they keep the sauce separate from the hash browns to avoid getting them soggy. When she said this I understood that she was taking me for a fool trying to say that the hash brown in the picture below plus the hollandaise sauce will make the poutine I paid for. So does that mean i paid $3.49 for just sauce? And this is sauce that comes with every breakfast meal!!! I am very angry and upset because the manager treated me like a fool and lied to me only for her to come back later on and say that they had sold out of breakfast poutine and were out of the bread. I asked her then why did you lie to me the first time telling me that the poutine was the hashbrowns and the sauce, only for her to say that she did not lie to me !? Why?! I have been a client at smittys and have looked past similar mistakes that have previously happened, but the manager’s response was the most unprofessional thing I’ve ever experienced, and being a manager myself I was shocked by the audacity. She told me she couldn’t help and I should take it up with Skip. This is the first bad review I’ve ever written and I believe it was well deserved.
