Taste Of Srilanka has been a long standing establishment with excellent patronizing from South asian diaspora specifically from the south of India and those of Srilanka that miss that coconut and rice goodness while eating out where most of the places provide dishes that are centered heavily around north india.
So this new location is a very welcome addition to a growing developing multicultural area full of already established affluent manitobans, growing affluent youngsters and more so affluent retirees from around the country.
If you want to try some really coconut and sweet spicy tangy influenced dishes that are away from the regular potpourri of the same indian dishes that probably you can name now on your finger tips and the same spices, This place will be a really welcome change for you.
They must be having a rotation of dishes that you can take as a combo. Their rice + 2 veg/2 meat/1 veg 1 meat combo platters are really good for 2 people and worth every penny you will spend - tip: add a roti/parotta on the side.
Go on a weekend(as they told they do this on the weekend only) and if you can call ahead for this- I have been there three times and I want you whoever is reading to really try the dosa and sambar. Unfortunately everytime i have been , once on a weekend, i couldnt get it, so i cannot rate it. But the one at forks does it and its really good.
Must try: Egg rolls/rolls - beef and chicken Curry buns Any gravy and roti kuttu parotta(it will be something new ans the taste and texture is really good) dosa and sambar.

Read moreTaste of Sri Lanka is a fantastic spot for anyone looking to experience authentic Sri Lankan flavours. The restaurant offers many dishes, from classic rice and curry spreads to flavorful seafood, hoppers, and kottu roti. Each dish is packed with aromatic spices, but what sets it apart from Indian cuisine is its unique base spice blend, which gives the food a distinct and unforgettable taste.
The prices are reasonable, making it a great value for the quality and portion sizes. The ambiance is warm and inviting, creating a comfortable dining experience whether youâre familiar with Sri Lankan cuisine or trying it for the first time.
If youâre expecting something identical to Indian food, youâll notice some similarities, but Sri Lankan dishes have their own character, with bold yet balanced flavors. The use of coconut, pandan leaves, and special spice blends gives them a rich and earthy taste thatâs quite different from typical Indian curries.
Overall, Taste of Sri Lanka is a must-visit for anyone looking to explore new flavors while enjoying a great atmosphere and fair pricing. Highly...
Read moreI was extremely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. The portions were tiny, the prices were ridiculous, and the entire experience felt like a rip-off. My brother and I ordered the same meal, yet I was charged $18.49 while he was charged $15.25. When I asked about it, they claimed the extra charge was for beef - even though he had the same dish. Worse, the âbeefâ wasnât even real beef - it was beef stomach, full of chewy, unpleasant bits.
âTo mention not, liked the taste of beef, would be better if it was actual meaty beefâ
I thought the extra charge might be for water, but they said water was free. Even so, I was still charged extra for unclear reasons. I also tipped in cash, but looking back, it definitely wasnât worth it.
The food was average at best, with portions so small they left me hungry. For the price, I expected much better quality and consistency. This place needs serious improvement, and I hope the food authority reviews their pricing and portions. I wouldnât recommend this...
