Nice atmosphere and staff are very pleasant - 5 stars. Food quality - 3 stars. Time, service and overall experience - 3.5 stars.

I ordered a cheeseburger, fries and got a milkshake to go. The burger was overcooked and almost burnt a bit on the outside but it didn't taste that bad all things considered. Bun was soft and plain, though I wish it was placed on the grill for a higher quality flavor/texture. It was a warm burger with a cold bun. Cheese on it was good. The fries were good, but were not very hot when the food arrived. Overall, the burger was just okay. Maybe if I ordered something different it would have been a higher rating.

I was not a fan of the flavor milkshake (creamsicle which was literally orange juice plus ice cream) but that can come down to opinion. I would have named it orange instead since it wasn't very flavorful or sweet. I think a fruit such as strawberry or getting a nutella one would have been better. For the price, I wouldn't get another one though.

It has been years since I last stepped into this charming diner! Happily today found me downtown meeting a friend for lunch - and - White Star Diner was suggested. I was all over that cuz…previous visits were enjoyed. Consistent!!! As every past visit - the burger was deliciouso!!! I went with the White Star Burger & fries. Yummo! I came in with an appetite and I left with my tank contentedly full! I ate the burger and some fries…a good size burger and generous amount of fries! I hope this diner continues to do well and wish them continued success! If you’ve never been - get there! Can't recommend this place enough. This is more than just a 'burger joint', there is "art" and a lot of care and thought in these burgers, and all of their dishes. It is one place I will never ask to "alter or substitute" in any way. They portion and combine ingredients to make it a complete experience. It's more than just "throw this stuff on a burger". They are well thought out and masterfully prepared. When you go there, try to resist the urge to order a burger "without X". They've done a good job of building their burgers around all the (always fresh) ingredients.
