Yen's Kitchen + Bar — Restaurant in Winnipeg

So good to have Yen's Kitchen + Bar open! It's been a long time coming, since Cousin's closed down at the beginning of COVID (same owner). This is a classic neighbourhood haunt. Nothing pretentious, just a place to hang out with friends, enjoying solid drinks and good food. Yen is fantastic. He's still developing the menu, but I'm looking forward to trying some homemade pasta. Good prices. The veggie burger is massive and only $6-7.

I can't express how good the food and atmosphere is here, but wow what a delightful surprise in this lovely neighbourhood. Yen is an S-Tier chef, and has a heart of gold that will joyfully interact with any patron in or out of his establishment.

I will from now on only come here for drinks (both mixed and canned beers) and the out of the park food that is clearly hand made with care and love.

Some of the most legit gumbo you'll ever have in your life. It's a quirky spot, in a good way. Clearly the owner is friends with the regulars, but this is more a pro than a con. It is welcoming, and a great place for a conversation. There's something wonderfully casual about the place. You won't be fussed over, but it's weirdly accommodating to both privacy and extroverted...
