I recently had the pleasure of dining at Zaytun with a group of friends, and overall, the experience was a positive one. The service stood out right away — the staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcomed throughout our visit.
We tried a variety of dishes including kibbeh, baba ghanoush, shawarma wraps, a shared platter, and finished off with knafeh and karak tea. Each item was fresh, well-prepared, and full of authentic flavor. The kibbeh was crisp and flavorful, the baba ghanoush had just the right smoky richness, and the shawarma wraps were well-balanced and satisfying. The knafeh was a delightful end to the meal — warm, sweet, and perfectly textured — and the karak tea added a comforting touch.
Service was polite and responsive, though we did need to ask a couple of times for the music to be turned down. It was quite loud, which made conversation difficult at times.
The ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant and inviting, making it a nice spot for a casual get-together. However, one area that could use improvement is the washroom section. While the dining area was clean and comfortable, the washrooms appeared to need more attention in terms of cleanliness and upkeep.
Overall, Zaytun delivers a flavorful and enjoyable experience with room to grow in certain areas. I’d definitely recommend it for anyone looking to enjoy Middle Eastern cuisine in a relaxed setting — and I look forward...
Read moreMy father, my wife and myself went for dinner to this place on 25 Dec 2023.
Food- We ordered Falafel with a mix of two sauces - Baba Ghanoush and Foul. Tahini sauce is complimentary and comes with Falafels. Apart from being a little oily, the Falafels and sauces were all really delicious. My dad is a usual east Indian cuisine guy and hard to impress with food; and even he loved it as well. Next we ordered Yalangi ( can see in menu pics). It had a very distinct falvour, tangy with an after taste of oily. I liked it.
Main course was Musakaa’ which is an eggplant dish. Being vegetarian, we customized it so that there is no beef in it. I have had Musakaa’ before; it was different from it. It was less spicy, sauce was slightly undercooked and it has potatoes in it which is also different from what I have in mind. For Drinking, we tried Turkish coffee which was good. We also ordered Sahlab which is made from milk, orchid essence and pistachio. I loved it except it would like the essence to be on lighter side as it tended to overpower the whole taste at times. The services was really slow. May be staff was less. May be because there was more rush than usual because of Christmas and most of restaurants were closed in city. The guy at front is very warm hearted and treated everybody...
Read moreHorrible experience. When we went the staff was talking to other people in the kitchen and didn’t bother to tell us to seat or anything. After waiting for almost 5 minutes, we just sat on the table nearest we could find empty. No one came to take the order and we had to ask them if we should order in the front. Nothing was mentioned anywhere, and the person said oh we can take your order here. The food was average but the service was very poor. The shawrma and platters were okay and we ordered kunafeh, fries and other food too but the staff said that he took the order but forgot when we had ordered it in the beginning and told us to wait for another half an hour. Who would wait another half an hour for the desserts when we had ordered everything together in the beginning? Very careless and very unprofessional. What was worst that they had given a kunafeh to the group right infront of us, preferably people from their country cause they were talking in a different language ( when they told us to wait 30 mins cause they didn’t take out order ) which shows that they discriminate between the customers....
